I have now been back in New York for a week and I'm seriously happy to be here! However, I somehow forgot how freakin' cold it is when the wind blows down Broadway in the morning. My ears nearly froze off the first morning I walked to class. Even with the cold (which I know everyone is sick of hearing about) being back in the city is just what I needed after over a month at home. This weekend I'll be taking advantage of highs above freezing (so warm right?) and hopefully making a trip up to Central Park on Saturday. Of course I'll be parked in front of a TV, along with most of America, on Sunday watching the Superbowl!

A few thinks I've been loving this week...

Finding this picture of a J.Crew tweet with #JCrewtruths. Can we seriously make this a thing?

I only just found this article with great ways to style a leather skater skirt like the one I just bought (shown here) and I love them!

Who doesn't love Sophia Bush? I know I do and I'm also obsessed with her new show Chicago PD that is on Wednesday nights.

This op-ed on street style definitely brings up a few thinks to think about.

Love these picks by Who What Wear for the your 14 essentials!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Since moving into my freshman dorm this past fall I've been somewhat reluctant to share pictures of my room. However, I've been receiving emails and comments asking me to share more pictures of both New York and my room so I thought I would come through. Here's the thing with dorm rooms, you have to stuff everything that's important to you in a pretty small space (and mine is abnormally large for a dorm) and then also spend a lot of your time in that space. If you're like most of the girls I know this means you have tons of clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry, and make up. So now you're trying to fit all of this in a tiny shared room while also trying to make it feel like your own.

Given all of these ridiculous constraints I've been attempting to make my room feel like home. While my interior design style is very minimal (I love clean lines and white surfaces) my room is no where near that. Trying to create an all white room that I spend most of my time in would lead to messy spills knowing my luck, so I went in a very different direction. By adding colorful pillows to my bed and displaying my favorites scarves and other accessories I've been able to keep a somewhat organized space where I can study, but also be inspired.

Once I have my own apartment  have dreams of photographs in beautiful old frames, but for my dorm (mostly because of car space restraints) I've loved making collages of my own pictures as well as pictures from magazines and blogs. These collages as well as mementos, such as the broadway playbills and tickets on my desk, inspire me on the days where my brain is filled with statistics and accounting so that I don't burst! Of course, the incredible view from my room (especially during sunset) is always beautiful and inspiring.

I hope you all enjoyed the peek into my dorm room!

{J.Crew chambray shirt, Aeropastale blazer, RD style pants, INC flats, Bauble Bar necklace}

Wearing a combination of this outfit has become seriously addicting. I know this is essentially the same look as I posted last week, but after picking up this white blazer when I got to the city it was all I wanted to wear to brunch. My friend found this blazer at Aeropastale for only $9 and it's perfect. A white blazer has been on my wish list for a while since it's fun for spring and can be worked into almost any outfit.

Of course as we went outside to take pictures on Saturday it started to snow. What this meant is I took off my coat and gloves for approximately two minutes and then ran inside to sooth my numb fingers.

Hope you all have a great Monday! Today is my first day of class, so wish me luck!

Happy Friday everyone! I'm finally back in New York this weekend after a traffic heavy car ride yesterday. While I'm incredibly happy to be back in the city, but the picture above pretty accurately describes my plans this weekend. I'm looking forward to a little R&R before classes start on Monday and I'm back on the crazy train. I'm also seriously looking forward to brunch at Lafayette with my friends tomorrow morning as a welcome back to the city.

A few things I've been loving this week...

The release of the Olympic uniforms. I honestly don't know how I feel about them this year.

Emily's high waisted jeans and striped top from Cupcakes and Cashmere this week. It's the perfect look for spring.

These tips for dressing in the snow from Who What Wear. I especially love Miranda Kerr's look!

Rachel McAdams and her favorite Mean Girls quotes. Is butter a carb?

If you're looking for interior decor inspiration (or just plain old inspiration) this interview with Army Captain Katie del Castillo is incredible and her apartment is gorgeous.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

{Zara sweater (similar), H&M necklace, Forever 21 skirt, Timex watch, Express boots}

I'm a huge fan of both navy and black and in the past I've bought pieces (including this top) that put the two colors together. However, I've always been wary of combining the colors in separate pieces and having people wonder if I know that my top and bottom don't match. Everyone has had those moments where you question whether you're wearing is black or navy.

Once I picked up this faux leather skirt, though, I thought I would try out the combination. I've found that I like navy and black better together when the textures of the pieces are different. By pairing the sweater with the leather skirt you can really see the difference in their colors.

What do you think about navy and black?

I'm not really a tshirt kind of girl. I will almost always choose a blouse or sweater over a tshirt, but with all these fun tees on bloggers I've change my mind a bit. I love the way Grace and Sydne pair an easy tee with dressier skirts and how Victoria and Jessica add jackets on top of their tees. Of course Jules, who in my opinion is the master of casual cool wear, perfectly pairs her chambray and sneakers.

What do you all think about tshirts like these?

So my leather addiction has gotten even worse... A year ago I never would have thought my closet would be full of leather, but maybe that's what New York has done to me. I finally found a pair of leather leggings, which had been on my wishlist for a long time, and I'm obsessed with them. They pair perfectly with my new leopard print flats (my last pair finally fell apart, but after refusing to change I found this pair that are almost identical!). You'll definitely be seeing a lot more of both these pieces when I get back to the city!

Oh, and this whole coat worn as a cape thing. I don't know how people walk around with their coat this way (do they?), but it did make me feel just a bit more stylish when taking pictures.

Even though I don't have a job that makes me dress up five days a week the weekend still puts me in the mindset for casual comfy looks. Two of my favorite trends right now are boyfriend jeans (especially the kind that are only slightly boyfriendy) and dressier slip-ons and they are both perfect for Saturday shopping. Of course, adding a slightly striped top and delicate gold jewelry is the perfect way to finish this look.

Happy Friday everyone! This weekend is my last weekend at home with my family since I head back to school on Thursday. I'll be getting breakfast with my dad Sunday morning and then spending the rest of the day on the couch watching the Patriots win the AFC Championships (knock on wood).

A few things I've been loving this week...

These 7 Habits of Highly Stylish People, especially number three

Peter Pilotto for Target is less than a month away and I am so excited

Pony hair slip ons, especially this Steve Madden pair and this pair from Asos

Madewell's instagram which is freaking fantastic

Easy ways to switch up your wardrobe for the new year

Oh, and of course this article that explains all the reasons why we love Blair Waldorf

Hope you all have a great weekend!

One of the best parts of blogging so far has been connecting with other bloggers from around the country Victoria from Folio-V is one of those lovely bloggers! I've followed Folio-V for a while now and am in love with Victoria's style. This girl seriously knows how to dress and has perfected making neutrals look bold. The way Victoria plays with textures and cuts is incredible and I wait for her posts!

After talking to Victoria for a few months I thought I should ask her a few questions about herself and her blog! I hope you all enjoy!

How would you describe your style?
I'd like to think I have a sort of 'city girl' look. Urban, a little edgy, but very simple. I never like to have too much going on in my look. But what it really comes down to is wearing what I love!

What are you most looking forward to wearing this spring?
Dresses! I'm actually more of a pants person, but this year I'm trying to break outside of my style comfort zone. I'm obsessed with maxi dresses and over the past couple years have started quite the collection. But what I'm most looking forward to is being able to wear white! White dresses, white pants, white everything! I can't wait to wear white linen pants.

What do you love most about blogging?
I live in suburbia, a land of conformity, and I think blogging has really helped me push my style out of that safe zone. I also love connecting with people who love what I love. Having this little project makes me really happy when I'm having a bad day at school.

Who are your top two style icons?
Oh that's a toughie - there are too many! I LOVE Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I'm super inspired by their careers and their style! I also love Mary-Kate Steinmiller's style. She's the fashion market editor of Teen Vogue and she's too fabulous for words

Definitely check out Victoria's looks over on Folio-V if you haven't already!

Lately I've been loving simple pieces in neutrals (and oxblood counts as a neutral right?). Neutrals are great way to transition from Winter to Spring, especially in the form of espadrilles and peep toe booties! I'm also loving leather leggings (finally found the perfect pair!), fun skirts, and comfy sweaters.

If you haven't noticed I've also added a new Caroline's Favorites section to the sidebar. Here you can check out some of my new favorites anytime!

{J.Crew field jacket, J.Crew gingham shirt (similar), Bandolino boots, Timex watch, Forever 21 necklace}

Some version of this outfit is pretty much what I've been wearing almost everyday since I got home for Winter Break. Boyfriend shirts, jeans, and boots are perfect for braving the cold and snowy days we've been having, but luckily it warmed up a bit this weekend so I traded my heavy peacoat for a lighter jacket.

I'm headed back to school in 10 days, but until then I'll be relying on my phone for taking pictures because in my rush to pack before leaving school I forgot my camera's charger (whoops). A now dead camera has made me try out some new editing apps and after hearing so much about Vsco Cam I finally downloaded it. I will say I'm still loyal to Afterlight, but I do like some of the filters Vsco Cam has.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

Can we talk about the fact that all I've wanted to week is curl up in my bed with hot chocolate and Netflix? This whole polar vortex thing is really not ok with me and I've been dreaming of the warmer months ahead. Luckily, it is apparently supposed to be in the fifties this weekend, which is somewhat of a miracle after these single digits.

The only good thing about the freezing temperatures is that I've been doing a lot of reading. I'm currently reading the second book in the Divergent series and I'm obsessed. Seriously, read them if you haven't already. I've also been stalking all my favorite blogs and sites (Who What Wear, Refinery 29, etc) for great articles I missed over the holidays.

Some of my favorites this week have been...

Who What Wear's key pieces for 2014 (especially the blazer!)

All those Polar Vortex pick up lines, especially these 11

This drapey top from tobi that wold be perfect under a blazer

Liz Schneider's post on Sequins and Stripes about what is really important is inspiring

Even though it's been 2014 for over a week now I love this picture of resolutions for the year ahead

Who doesn't want to dress like a French women? These tips are sure to help us Americans out

I hope you all have a great weekend! I'll be making the most of the warmer weather (spring come sooner) by taking a hike with my sister and puppies! Spending time with them is definitely the best part of being home on break.

I as much as anyone love bright statement necklaces and chunky bracelets, but on most days my favorite jewelry is actually small and delicate. I have a necklace with a small C on it that you've problem seen a dozen times on the blog because I wear it pretty much every day. Small rings and and thin bracelets are also some of my favorite pieces and I've found many I love on Bauble Bar. I honestly don't know what I did before Bauble Bar and the hundreds of gorgeous pieces on their site. I always find myself scrolling through the new arrivals and recently I've found too many pieces I love not to share them with you!

While taking these pictures yesterday my hands almost froze off. I know temperatures in the single digits and below are normal for parts of the country, but I just can't handle them. Luckily, I'm still home on winter break from school so I don't have to deal with walking to class in freezing NYC wind tunnels.

I've been pairing these boots with everything recently since not only do they add a little extra warmth but they are simple enough to complete any outfit. The bitter cold requires layers upon layers so thick tights, jackets, and warm coats (not pictures but definitely needed). I'm just praying for a little warm weather soon!

I remember getting my first cell phone when I was in 6th grade. It was a blue dinosaur that had no camera and certainly no texting or apps. Well, I (as well as the rest of the world) have come a long way since then and now I'm as addicted to my phone as the rest of my friends.

Since getting a new iPhone a few months ago I've been searching for the best apps for both productivity and enjoyment. I hate carrying around my laptop when I don't need it, so I rely on my phone most of the time. Of course I have all the typical apps like Instagram (#addicted), Facebook, Style.com, etc, but there are a few apps I love that are less popular!

Some of my favorite apps are...

1. College Fashionista ~ This app was just recently released and I love it! I've loved College Fashionista's site for a while (it isn't just for college students!) because of the great student written articles, but the app makes it so much easier to keep up and save my favorite articles.

2. ChicFeed ~ I recently just found this app and now I can't stop scrolling through the pictures. ChicFeed puts together many top street style blogs in one app so you don't have to check each of them separately (I love The Sartorialist and Jak and Jil).

3. Bloglovin' ~ I hope all of you use Bloglovin' to subscribe to blogs you read (including mine) because it is the best way to keep track of posts! I use the app all the time to read posts on the go (mostly right before class starts). Posts are formatted perfectly for iPhones when you use the Bloglovin' app so no more dealing with weird zooming or mobile formatting.

4. Embark NYC ~ Since moving to New York this app has saved me. New York Subways are pretty hard to learn so I use Embark to check the subway route anytime I go somewhere new. It has up to minute info on when trains are coming and it lets you know when certain lines are down. Whether you are new to the city or just visiting I highly suggest downloading this app.

5. Covet Fashion ~ This app is definitely my guilty pleasure. Basically you have virtual money with which you can buy virtual versions of your favorite designers' pieces (mine include Rebecca Minkoff and Joie) and then create looks to enter events. It is essentially playing dress up with all the clothes you cannot afford and I love playing in my free time!

6. Afterlight ~ Ok this is definitely my favorite app, hands down. Afterlight is a photo-editing app that is not only amazing for enhancing the quality of your pictures, but it also comes with dozens of perfect filters for Instagram and has unique cropping options. This app definitely fuels my instagram addiction!

It's that time of year again when Christmas trees are out on the curb and the holiday lights are taken down. Sadly, the snow and the cold are still around in Boston and without all the holiday sparkle it is downright depressing.

My instagram feed has been filled with incredible pictures from tropical vacations and aussie bloggers (like Jessica from Tuula) in summer weather, so I've been dreaming of warm weather and carefree summer days. If you're going on vacation anytime soon (or just dreaming of the tropics like me) these printed and striped pieces are perfect!

{J.Crew jacket, Gap sweater, Target scarf (similar), Madewell jeans, Sperry boots (similar), Timex watch}

Yesterday it started snowing and the snow has yet to stop so I'm making the most of being unable to leave my house. My sister and I ventured out into the snow yesterday only long enough to take a few pictures since it was about ten degrees outside. However, inside I've been cozied up in this sweater from Gap I picked up during the after holiday sales. It is so soft I've been tempted to sleep in it!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I'm so happy to be home relaxing after all of the holiday craziness.

Happy 2014 everyone! I spent my first day of the year sleeping in and watching HGTV shows with my family (we love House Hunters).

I also caught up with the blogs I haven't had a chance to read over the holidays. After reading about everyone's New Years resolutions I've had a hard time thinking about my own. Making resolutions always seems to put a lot of weight on specific goals that often can't be accomplished. So this year instead of writing down a list of goals that I will likely forget in a few weeks I'm choosing to live by the motto 'Never settle for less than everything'.

Whether it's getting an A in my financial accounting class or working on a new design for my blog I want each little goal to be approached with a can-do attitude. Everyone has dreams for the future, but I feel that so often we get pushed down by the day to day struggles. This year I want to think about my goals and dreams for the future and remember to never settle for less than everything, even on the hardest days.
