Some weeks I can't wait to sit down and write a blog post and others it's almost impossible to get myself to write even the first sentence of a post. This week it's the latter, which is why my first post of the week is going up today.

After having an amazing weekend at home in Massachusetts with my family I had to face the fact that I'd be saying goodbye to my fourteen year old golden retriever Daisy for the last time. Daisy was the dog that surprised us all and out lived every other dog my family has had, even though she came from a crappy backyard breeder and need hip surgery at six months old. She was there through two different moves to new states, through mean middle school girls, and every time I came home from college in need of puppy love - always with a smiling face and wet kiss straight to the face. She was like all good dogs are, a best friend and a part of the family, so saying goodbye was something I never could've been ready for and it's definitely made it a bit hard to get into the normal groove this week.

On a lighter note, I'm excited to share this look with you guys because it's finally supposed to start feeling like fall again today here in New York, meaning it might actually be time to pull out all those cozy layers! With the weather being so summer-like this past week or so I've been having to wear my favorite sweaters in more creative ways, like over a  transitional sundress. It might be 80 degrees, but when there's a will there's a way right? In my mind the moment September hits it's always sweater weather.

Happy Friday everyone!

I talked about it on Instagram on Wednesday, but this week has felt like it has dragged on so I'm very ready for the weekend. I'll be spending the next couple days binging on apples, snuggling with my pups, and baking pumpkin bread with my mom (I know I know, very basic of me). I think this short escape from the city will be just the reset I need to get back into the groove of things.

An extra bonus this weekend is all the amazing sales that are happening for the Columbus Day Holiday! Now it's finally starting to feel like fall it's the perfect time to stock up on fall classics and decide which trendier pieces will become your statement this fall!

I bought this sweater and these over the knee boots, and have my eye on this coat. Happy Shopping!

Blazers have been my thing for as long as I can remember, so I can't even begin to tell you how happy I was when this year it suddenly seems like blazers are popping up everywhere. From plaid boyfriend ones to velvet maroon ones, I'm building up a crazy long wishlist of blazers to add to my already large collection.

The one I'm wearing in these photos is an oldie but goodie that isn't going anywhere any time soon (see it featured here and here in past posts). While I usually go for a casual look paired with my blazers (think easy jeans and a tee), but I wanted to dress things up a bit last weekend for a brunch with friends. On a whim I tried out the monochrome look on top with an olive blouse layered under my olive blazer and I kind of loved it. What do y'all think?

Plus, below are a few blazers I'm loving right now under $80!

As we were sitting in Central Park this weekend a few friends and I came to the conclusion that we much prefer a cloudy fall day to a sunny one. There's just something about the slight gloom that the clouds bring that makes it feel more like fall, ya know?

Cloudy gloom was definitely my experience in Nantucket a few weekends ago, but I definitely wasn't disappointed to see firsthand why the Grey Lady got it's nickname. I know it's taken me forever to get photos from my short trip up on here, but it's because I'm working on a comprehensive guide to ACK with the help of one my BFFs who is now officially a local to the island. Since I've only visited Nantucket a few times I always leave it to my friend to show me the best parts of the island!

One spot I can recommend 100% on my own is Sankaty Head Lighthouse, my favorite of the three lighthouses on the island. Whenever I'd visited the lighthouse before it had been on perfect summery days, but I have to say I think I liked it even more with the fog. While you can usually see out over the surrounding cliffs and golf course, on the day we headed up to the lighthouse it was like we were lost in a sea of white - pretty magical if I do say so myself.

Of course, every time I leave Nantucket I start planning for my next trip almost immediately, so maybe I'll be seeing Sankaty Head Light next in the snow...?
