On Christmas morning I opened up one of the best surprises I've ever gotten. Remember when I put these boots on my Christmas wishlist? Well, I didn't think there was any chance I would get them as a present, but there they were underneath the tree. Over the Knee boots have been on my wishlist for a long time, especially after seeing them on Sloane from Sailing the Sea of Style!

Of course after opening these boots up there was no way I was letting them come off my feet. I edited my cozy Christmas day outfit last minute to include the boots and my favorite tartan button up. It was the perfect look for a day playing with my little cousins and eating my aunt's delicious food!

I think one of the best times to find deals without dealing with crazy Black Friday sales is right after Christmas! Sadly, these sales usually don't last long so head to your shopping center or cozy up with your computer asap to take advantage of the great discounts!

Some of my favorites...

Asos has has up to 50% off for the next few days.
Forever 21 has 50% off boots and booties until Jan 1st! I love this pair.
Old Navy has pieces up to 60% off until the end of December. This coat is perfect for cold months ahead!
Gap has a great selection up to 50% off including this adorable sweater.
Zara is having an incredible sale and I'm dying to order this coat.
Urban Outfitters is doing $15 off 75$, 25$ of $100, etc (All BDG are also $39 right now! I love these and these)
And there are so many more!

Hope you all have a great weekend and good luck with your shopping!

{H&M sweater (similar), Zara skirt, Nordstrom watch, Cynthia Rowley necklace, Express boots}

I hope you all had a great holiday! I definitely got my fill of family time and Christmas cookies. I was also given some incredible presents of my family that you will see on the blog soon!

Since Christmas day is all about lounging around in my family I decided to dress up a bit for Christmas Eve dinner. This skirt and sweater are on high rotation in my winter wardrobe. Both pieces are incredibly comfortable and easy to wear so I always end up gravitating towards them!

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”
– Calvin Coolidge

I came across this quote a few days ago and believe President Coolidge is right in saying Christmas is a state of mind. Waking up surrounded by family and friends reminds me of all the things I'm grateful for. I'm in Connecticut celebrating with my extended family and plan on spending the day relaxing and watching my little cousins open presents. I hope you all have a joyous day celebrating with your family and friends.

Merry Christmas

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

I can't believe Christmas is tomorrow! Since getting home from school Friday night I've been getting extra sleep and catching up on reading. After finals a vacation was definitely needed.

Today I'm heading down to Connecticut to see family and this look is similar to what I think I'll be wearing Christmas day. For lounging around, opening presents, and playing with my little cousins an easy comfortable outfit is a must-do. Adding fun pops of pattern and sparkle make the look perfect for Christmas!

Happy weekend everyone! I can't believe Christmas is only a few days away. This week was jam packed with studying and christmasy things in New York. Sadly, I didn't get over to see Rockefeller Christmas tree or the Bergdorf holiday windows, but there is always next year! My amazing father braved the traffic and picked me up in the city yesterday to bring me home to Massachusetts. You would think between NY and MA there would not be such a large change in temperature, but there is about a foot of snow on the ground here and it is freezing. I will definitely be cuddled inside catching up on magazine reading for the next few days!

Some other things I love right now....
- Getting on the Divergent bandwagon, my sister has ensured me the books are incredible
- This girl's red lips and cozy sweater are perfect for Christmas day
- Still looking for gifts for friends and family and my 20 Under $25 guide is definitely helping
- My heart is swooning over these gorgeous loafers

Hope you all have a great weekend!

{J.Crew chambray shirt, J.Crew flannel, Old Navy jeans, Hunter boots}

It has been snowing like crazy in New York and surprisingly I haven't minded. The falling snow is beautiful and the way it coats Washington Square creates picture perfect settings (literally). Unfortunately, the snow comes with seriously cold temperatures, which is where this whole two shirt thing came in. Layering my favorite flannel under a chambray top ended up being the perfect pop of plaid while keeping me extra warm in the snow.

It has been a while since I've put up any of my instagram pictures up on the blog, but with the Holiday season starting I've snapping shots like crazy. While I love fall and usually hate the change to bare trees and freezing temperatures I haven't minded it as much this year. The city definitely goes all out for the holidays and I love walking through Christmas tree stands and seeing the pretty lights everywhere.

The Holidays In NYC

Monday, December 16, 2013

When it comes to the holiday season I love dressing up in pieces that have bold colors or fun sequins, but dresses with one serious focal point are extremely hard to style in multiple different ways. With multiple occasions from holiday parties, to Christmas day with the family, and then NYE buying a new dress for each party is not an option. One of the easiest ways to re-wear a party dress is to buy the perfect LBD. However, for the holidays I look for something a little more special, a Little Black Holiday Dress! I look for small details that make the dress special, but still let you accessorize in different ways. A fun cut, lace, or leather details is the perfect addition to a simple dress. Then adding different jewelry, jackets, and shoes makes the dress look completely different for every party!

{Zara peacoat, Necessary Clothing leather jacket, H&M sweater, Paige jeans, Express boots}

Well winter has truly arrived in New York. It snowed this week which luckily actually made me want to stay inside and study for finals. While I love being outside in the fall, when it snows all I want to do is curl up with a book and watch the flakes fall from inside. When I am forced to outside, which is all the time in NYC, I survive only by layering all my favorite jackets. My warm peacoat layered over a faux leather jacket not only keeps me extra warm on windy mornings but the burgundy color adds a fun pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit.

I only have a week left of school before I go home for winter break and my first college finals are definitely a lot of work. For now I'm attempting to focus on school work as much as possible, but I'll be back in full force on the blog soon! Good luck to anyone else studying for or taking finals!

Outfit: Layered Up For Winter

Thursday, December 12, 2013

A few of my favorite things right now are sparkle, fur, and matte red lips and I've combined them all this is holiday look. While my family doesn't usually dress up for Christmas day I love this look for a fun party or dressy dinner. The pops of deep turquoise are definitely my favorite part and they add a little Christmas color without the typical green and red.

Happy Saturday! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. This coming week and next I have finals so it is definitely crunch time and my weekend will be filled with studying

. In "short" breaks from studying I've discovered that What Not to Wear seasons nine and ten are now on Netflix instant. After years of watching the show with my mom I had no idea the show was airing again and now I can't wait to catch up on episodes. The Stacy and Clinton way is always the best way.

I'm also on the hunt for a holiday skirt. I love the fun feeling of the skirt above and gold details are always festive and a little glam. If you have any suggestions let me know!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend!

Since Christmas is now only three weeks away it is definitely time to get in the gift finding mode! I know I said last week I was trying to start shopping early, but I'm sensing finals and the madness they create will be pushing back some of my shopping. This month's 20 Under $25 is definitely helping me with some of my gift giving though!

I always find one of the hardest parts of holiday gift shopping are the Secret Santa exchanges with a low price limit or Yankee Swaps when you don't know who will be getting your gift. These gift exchanges are usually kept under $25, but that doesn't mean you can't pick out a great gift.

For a Secret Santa exchange I suggest trying to personalize your gift in some way. One of my favorites is getting a friend who loves tea an initialed mug (like this one) with her favorite tea inside. Another great way of personalizing a gift is getting an initialed key chain or small piece of jewelry you know she has been eyeing!

Yankee Swaps are one of my favorite Christmas traditions and I always have fun trying to pick out the best gift. For this type of exchange it's crucial to get something many people will like. Some of the best options are books, like the Fortune Telling Birthday Book, cute to-go mugs, or gadgets like the selfie clicker.

Good luck with all your gift giving and swapping!

Gift Guide: 20 Under $25

{Necessary Clothing jacket, H&M blouse, Madewell jeans, Express boots (similar)}

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Before I left the city on Wednesday I bought this jacket from Necessary Clothing and it is already feeling worn in. I've been wanting a colored leather jacket for a while and after seeing this one three or four times I finally made the purchase. I wore it two or three times over the weekend and love the way it can be worn over a light top in warmer temps or underneath my peacoat for freezing winter days!
