Even though my work schedule has been a little crazy over the last week I've been trying to take some time to enjoy the beautiful summer weather before it gets too hot and humid to spend afternoons outside. On Saturday I went to my town's yearly celebration to watch the parade and get lunch with my mom. Then yesterday before work I headed into Boston with a friend to do a little shopping (I've been missing being 10 minutes away from Zara and H&M). No surprise I picked up a new pair of shoes and a few other black, white, and striped pieces (#typical). We made the most of the weather by indulging in bread and pasta outside on Newbury Street. Oh and do you all remember this outfit? I tried to switch it up with my favorite blazer and a pair of wedged sandals for a little bit of a dressier Sunday. I'm always wearing tshirts and shorts for work so when I do something other than scoop ice cream I like to dress up a bit!

Hope you all had a great weekend and have an even better start to your (shortened) week! Also, can you all believe this is the last day of June?! The month has gone by so quickly and I couldn't be happier that 4th of July is only a few days away.

TGIF! This week has been crazy and I couldn't be happier the weekend is here. Between working at my favorite ice cream store, babysitting (I forgot how tiring and adorable 6 year olds can be), and working on projects for Dressometry my week has been a little hectic. While I'm still working this weekend I'll also be indulging in some time making s'mores around a fire pit (bucket list!) and a trip into Boston for a little shopping. Since I'm not on anything remotely close to a 9-5 schedule I've been trying to remind myself to make the most of the random days and times that I have off.

Some of the my favorites of the week... (I'm kind of obsessed with all of these links!)

If you're like me and have subscribed to more than a hundred emailing lists over the years you need to use this unsubscribing tool to make sure you're only following your favorites

I'm debating buying the classic Ray Ban aviators... What do ya'll think? Should I go for it? Any suggestions?

If only I could travel as much as Jessica Stein from Tuula does! Her 2013 recap video posted this week gave me some serious wanderlust (and made me jealous of her dancing skills)

I love hot dogs and this article 'What Do Your Toppings Say About You?'. I'm somewhere in between the ketchup & mustard and chili cheese (hold the chili for me). What that means I'm not totally sure...

These bird eye instagrams of accessories are the best of the best. I love them! What you do you guys think?

I'm obsessed with the new app, "Coffee - Connecting The Next Generation" especially since meeting and talking to new people is always on my mind. You also must check out their instagram. It was made for the coffee obsessed.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

If you were wondering, my favorite holidays are 4th of July and Thanksgiving, and my favorite colors are red, white, and blue (and black). But seriously, I have a bit of of an americana problem obsession. While I love traveling to other countries when it comes down to it I love my apple pie, stars, and stripes.

So of course this means by the time June 1st hits I'm already ready for the 4th of July. The town I went to high school in doesn't have a parade on the fourth (crazy people, I know), but as a little kid my favorite part of the summer was the annual parade. We always spent the day with family and friends, with my dad on the grill making hot dogs (my favorite summer food duh) and little kids running around in bathing suits. I still love the parades and hot dogs but one of my favorite part of the 4th now is dressing ridiculously patriotic (which I try not to do all the time... see here, here, and here). I've collected some of my favorite patriotic and nautical pieces so that you aren't left wrapping yourself in an American flag on the 4th. Plus, you can check out last years look here. Only 8 more days 'til Fourth of July!!

I don't even want to tell you all how many hours a week I browse Shopbop, but on a student budget I can almost never afford anything I love on the site. That's why I love when Shopbop sales come around. Right now all sale is an extra 25% off, which means that adorable white jacket is only ~$80 and that magenta dress for only a little more than $40. I have a mile long list of everything I want to buy, but somehow I narrowed it down to my top five!

I also have a bit of a crazy end of the week so I might be absent for the next few days! I'll hopefully have one more outfit post up by the end of the week.

{Bellatrix blouse via TJ Maxx, Forever 21 skirt (similar), Madden Girl shoes, Old Navy sunglasses(available in store)}

Despite what you all might think I do actually have a little bright color in my wardrobe. The newest addition to my color collection are these blue mirrored aviators. I used to hate sunglasses (I could never find the right shape), but I've found a new love for aviators. After seeing fun colored sunglasses across so many different blogs and sites I knew I had to try out a pair. Of course I didn't want to spend a lot on a trend that I wasn't sure I'd like so I headed over to Old Navy and bought a pair for $15. I love the way they add an extra pop of color to my brighter outfits (and the all neutral ones :)).

Happy Friday everyone! I'm not sure if I've mentioned it yet, but my family is bringing home a new puppy soon and we are getting ridiculously excited. Tomorrow we are going up to Maine to pick her out of the litter, so expect to see lots of puppy pictures across my social media!

Even though I've been on summer break from school for a while I am so excited for the official start of summer tomorrow. It means that the 4th of July and a few fun vacations are getting even closer!

And now a few of my favorites from this week...

Mango's sale is still going on and I'm attempting to narrow down my list before putting in an order!

This list of subtle things that highly productive people do. I must get working on these

You all know my love of organization and these organization hacks are the best of the best

Both healthy and delicious recipes for summer using really fresh ingredients

An interesting article about how news organizations run their twitters

I know I have a shoe problem, but seriously these Tory Burch flats are so cute!

Hope you guys all have a great weekend! I'll be back Monday with an outfit post.

Summer has hit hard here in Massachusetts, and right on time since the official start of summer is only a few days away. I will never say I hate the heat and humidity (a winter promise I made), but sometimes the thought of having to deal with the soaring temperatures can make me want to sit inside all day. But, with the right pieces (light fabrics and loose fits) and some good humidity hair spray it's easy to beat, or at least handle, the heat. You can shop the post below!

 {Old Navy vest, J.Crew chambray top, Zara skirt, Nordstrom BP sandals (similar)}

So I don't think I've ever bought a vest, but this Old Navy cargo vest has been on my wish list for a while so when my local store finally had one in my size I walked straight to the cashier.  One of my favorite cargo jackets ripped beyond repair recently and this is the perfect replacement.

Even though us New Englanders are layering pros picking layers on ridiculously humid summer days (note the crazy hair with random curls) can be an impossible task and that is where this vest comes in. Anything from a light tank to a warm sweater can be worn under this vest, which means there are a ridiculous amount of outfit possibilities. Even better, when my friend saw it the first thing she said was 'it's so European', and while I don't know if that's true, I do know Madrid's warm weather will be seeing a lot of this vest.

Ever since I can remember I've been a 'girly girl' when it comes to getting dressed. I have more than my fair share of dresses, but believe me I can always use more. With all the traveling I"ll be doing this summer (and even more in the fall :)) I've been stocking up on light easy dresses that take up basically no space in a suitcase. However, sometimes finding the right dress, whether for an event (like my cousin's wedding) or just for everyday wear, can be ridiculously hard. All of this became so much easier though once I started using Dressometry.

Instead of looking at more than a dozen different sites all I have to do now is check out Dressometry since all same dresses are on this one site. When I think about packing for traveling I like to keep almost everything pretty basic (neutral shoes, a go with everything bag, etc), but I always make sure to have that one special dress. Whether it's in a bright color or a fun pattern a statement dress is a must have. My favorite part of Dressometry is how easy it is to find the perfect statement dressing using the Design Your Own Dress feature. I use this feature all the time to pick out the shape and pattern for a dress I have in mind. I can't even tell you how easy it is to accidentally spend hours browsing through the dresses on Dressometry!

Also, if you want to keep up with what's going on at Dressometry, make sure to like their Facebook page!

Finding the Perfect Dress

Summer, especially now that I'm in college, is a long (and beautiful) time that needs to be taken advantage of. I've hated the years where September hits and I feel like outside of work I've accomplished nothing. So this year instead of forgetting about each of the things I want to do I'm writing a list of each of everything I want to accomplish (both fun and necessary) in the next three months.

1. Go to Water Country with friends
2. Learn how to use Photoshop
3. Go dairy free for a week (#icecreamaddict)
4. Spend a weekend in New York
5. Read a lot of books (I can never decide on a number)
6. Find the perfect pair of go-with-everything flats
7. Bake a delicious summer dessert, maybe this one from Cupcakes and Cashmere
8. Start a journal to continue writing in while abroad
9. Eat the right amount of fruits and veggies each day
10. Complete a DIY that will actually be useful
11. Become a master packer (aka figure out how to fit 4 months of clothes into two suitcases)
12. Finish the movie list my friends and I are compiling
13. Bring my Nikon everywhere with me
14. Make s'mores (a must-have on any summer bucket list)
15. Visit somewhere new in Massachusetts

I'm sure I'll come up with more to add to this list as the summer goes on, but these fifteen are the perfect way to start. Summer is the best time for me to work on blogging projects and get to explore places I usually don't get to see, so hopefully you all will be seeing some of these must-dos on the blog soon.

Summer Bucket List

I know exactly what you're thinking... more scalloped pieces, can she be any more repetitive. Yes, I went to TJ Maxx and came out with two things. Yes, they were both navy blue and scalloped. Clearly I have a problem.

But, I loved this dress so much that I just couldn't pass it up. After spending months debating to buy the J.Crew version that looks similar to this dress I couldn't have been happier to find an option for only $20. Luckily, I also had a great excuse of 'needing' a dress to wear to the bridal shower. My mom likes to point out that I always need something new even though my closet is overflowing. We clearly have different ideas on what the work need implies (though she's probably right).

Outfit: I Needed This

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

This weekend my family was lucky enough to host a bridal shower for my cousin who is getting married in August. Of course the moment I found out we were having the party I went straight to Pinterest. With this board and some inspiration from their wedding invite we went for a blue and yellow summery theme. With seer sucker and burlap we pulled in pretty patterns and textures, but I must say the real eye catcher of the event was the cake we had made at Keyks Bakery. Not only was it delicious, but the stripes and flowers made for a beautiful centerpiece. Adding fun details, like the burlap gift bags and striped straws, were what really finished the decorating off perfectly. Of course the best part of the whole event was getting to celebrate with my cousin and our family!

Summer Party Planning

Happy Friday everyone! This week went extra quick for me since I was on vacation for most of it, and I would definitely be ok with next week being a repeat. I am excited for tomorrow, though, because my family is hosting a bridal shower for my cousin. My mom and I have spent weeks talking about the decorations and food (think seer sucker, hydrangeas, and mason jars with lemonade)!

And now a few of my favorites from the week...

You all know my love for digital marketing and this interview with Lucy Laucht, who works at JCrew, is perfection!

The new issue of Porter Magazine comes out today and I'm dying to find it on sale around where I live (cause I'm definitely not in New York anymore).

This Splendid clutch in navy is perfect for summer and very high on my wish-list

I picked up a light blue version of these straws for the bridal shower and am now obsessed with how cute they are

If you love an all black look as much as I do then these tips on how to wear one in the summer are a must see

I finally got a chance to look through the latest J.Crew Style Guide that was shot in India and couldn't be more in love with the location and the looks

Hope you all have a great weekend!

p.s. I just reached one thousand followers on instagram, so definitely check my insta out if you haven't already! :)

{Zara blazer, Express top, Mine shorts via Marshalls, Timex watch}

You know why loose stretchy shorts paired with peplum is the best? Because you can stuff yourself ridiculously full with fried shrimp and cole slaw and it won't make any difference at all.

On our last night on the Cape my friends and I got take out fried fish (so delicious) and headed down to a beach by where we were staying to soak in last of the gorgeous views before we had to head home. I knew I wanted to break out my new scalloped shorts during the trip and this night ended up being the perfect time. They are seriously so comfortable and I love the way they can be super casual with a tshirt or a little more dresses up with a blazer. I brought almost no jewelry with me so for a pop I wore a bright coral lipstick (the shrimp took most of it off though) and the outfit was just simple enough for our last night.

I'm already missing the long days sitting on the beach and hearing the waves crash, but alas reality was calling and I started back at work an hour after I got home.

Outfit: Scalloped

Thursday, June 5, 2014

I'm headed home from the Cape later today and I couldn't be more sad to leave. My friends and I lucked out with a beautiful couple of days to sit by the beach and indulge in some seriously good food (fried fish and ice cream were must haves). Even though I started the week thinking I would be taking tons of pictures I actually forgot about my phone (and completely forgot about my camera) for much of the trip. Of course I still have some pictures, but not the crazy amount I usually do and it was nice to be able to relax on the beach (with no cell service) and only think about the book I was reading.

From being completely soaked in our chairs by a rogue wave to rubbing aloe on horrible sunburns, all while laughing uncontrollably, these kind of trips remind me why I'm lucky to have the friends I do.

I'll be back tomorrow with an outfit from the trip!

Cape Get Away

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Hey all! I headed down to the Cape with some friends last night and will be indulging in a couple of days of fun and relaxation. There is going to be a lot of beach time, seafood, and laughing with friends I've had for a long time.

The Cape is always one of my favorite spots for vacation because of the beautiful beaches, cute shops, and of course the nautical style. I packed lots of navy blue and stripes in my bag and will be sure to take plenty of pictures over the next few days. Check out my instagram for beach pictures (and probably lots of food)!
