Saturday mornings have become something I look forward to every week. Not only do they mean the weekend is finally here, but even better it means breakfast with one of my friends. Since there is no way the classic New York brunch is a possibility on my budget my roommate and I go out for delicious bagels on Saturday mornings.

Walking through the pretty streets of the East Village to go to our bagel place is enough on it's own. However, bagels at the end is definitely  great reward. This week we tried Tompkins Sq's French Toast bagel with Apple Cinnamon cream cheese! I think we both agreed it was the best bagel/dessert/piece of heaven we have ever eaten. Sadly, I know that soon the weather will be too cold to eat out in the park, but for now I'm trying to enjoy every last bit of the early fall weather.

On another note, I've been wearing these leopard print flats that I bought last year everywhere. All rules of pattern mixing and navy with black have been broken, mostly because they are the comfiest pair of shoes that I own. I think I'm actually starting to understand why people call leopard print a neutral (yeah I know I'm behind the game).

Hope you all had a great weekend!

All I can say is TGIF! This week has felt like a hundred weeks strung together. While I have a lot of work ahead of me this weekend I couldn't be happier that Friday is here!

I plan to spend my free time this weekend relaxing and catching up on what I've missed from Milan and Paris fashion week. The days are passing so quickly that I didn't even realize PFW had already started.

I'm also thinking about taking a quick trip to Old Navy after seeing their black jeans and coated jeans on Jacey and Kendi this week. I don't know how you all feel about Old Navy but I'm always surprised by the great pieces I find there. A few weeks ago I found this great jacket that has already been perfect for the chilly fall mornings. Have you found anything special at Old Navy?

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Remember this summer when I was in search of the perfect pair of brown ankle boots? Well since then my obsession with ankle boots has gotten out of control. I love my brown pair to death and wear them multiple times a week and I know as the weather gets colder I'll want to wear them even more. So when I noticed how everyone in New York has the cutest black ankle boots I decided I needed to get my hands on a pair. I've been scouring the internet for the perfect pair and found 7 (the six above plus these that I just found!) that I absolutely love.

If you live in a warmer climate (or at least one where it doesn't snow all the time) I would suggest the cut-out booties. They are a fun way to switch up the basic boot. However, since it snows a lot here and gets pretty slushy I'm looking for a classic pair. I've decided I want a leather pair, but I'm not sure whether I want a lower cut boot or one that is cut slightly above the ankle. What do you all like better?

Last night I got the chance to see a Yankees game with friends, thanks to my amazing school. While I cannot say I'm really a baseball fan going to Yankee stadium to see a game was definitely on my New York to-do list. We had a great time and of course I had to get classic baseball game snack, cracker jacks. My friends from home in Boston were pretty angry that I was rooting for the our Rivals (since I'm supposed to be a Red Sox fan). Apparently I went a little too far when I bought Yankees gear. Oops!

I hope you are all having a great week! If you need a little something funny to get you through hump day watch this video. It always manages to make me laugh whether it is Wednesday or not.

Am I a New Yorker Yet?

Wednesday, September 25, 2013
The last few weeks in New York have been gorgeous. I've loved being here for the transition from summer into fall.

I had an incredible birthday weekend with friends that started with incredible cupcakes from Molly's Cupcakes! We also explored the city a little bit, though I have quickly grown to love Greenwich Village, where I go to school. I was walking through Washington Sq Part and saw the best bubbles the other day. Doesn't the one above look like an elephant!? I also went out for delicious bagels with my roommate Saturday morning at Tompkins Square Bagels in Alphabet City. As someone who is a serious bagel addict lover I am telling everyone to go there. Their bagels are always fresh out of the oven and there are so many fun cream cheeses (like apple cinnamon) that you can try.

It has only been a month since I've been in New York but I've definitely fallen under the city's spell. I can't imagine being anywhere else right now. I'll have a new outfit post up soon as well! I've been obsessing over my new fall pieces.

A Little Update

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
The day is finally here when I catch up with the rest of my friends and turn another year older! As a legal adult now I can go crazy and sign my own waivers, get my ears pierced without parental consent, and buy my own lottery tickets.

While I won't be doing anything actually all that crazy I'm excited to start my weekend a little early this week by getting cupcakes with friends to celebrate. It feels weird not being home to celebrate with my family around the kitchen table, but my parents have been making me feel extra special all week sending cards and presents ahead of time. In the sweetest text my mom told me she wanted to make sure "I felt loved" on my first birthday away from home. Sometimes parents really can be the best.

I hope you all have a great weekend! I'll be back next week with pictures.

{Gap sweater, Madewell jeans, Ecote boots via UO, Forever 21 necklace}

As you know from my post yesterday I love sweater weather! This week the weather is perfect in New York. 60s and sunny makes for gorgeous afternoon and chilly evenings. I found this sweater at Gap the other day and it may be the comfiest thing I own. While I sadly realized it has a tendency to wrinkle as the day goes on (see picture 2), the loose cut with fitted arms works well on its own or under a jacket. For class I threw it on with jeans and my favorite fall boots that are perfect for running to class.

Outfit: Perfect for Fall

It is officially sweater weather in New York as the temps are getting into the 60s. I love this fall weather and I've quickly realized I need to stock up on some sweaters. Finding the right sweaters for your personal style and body is key to having an easy fall/winter wardrobe. I have many basic sweaters to layer as the weather gets chiller, but I love finding special sweaters with details like leather, fun prints, or pretty writing.

Happy shopping!

Happy Weekend! Adjusting to being on a school schedule again has been pretty hectic these past few weeks. Not only have my classes been demanding but I"ve also found new clubs and activities to join that have been taking up a lot of time.

This craziness has made weekends all the more precious. Luckily, the weather has been gorgeous almost every day and it feels like fall! Some friends and I are making the most of this weather by heading down to SoHo this afternoon to do a little shopping and then going to the Brooklyn Bridge later on!

I hope you all have the chance to spend some time outside this weekend! I keep reminding myself in just a month or two I'll be shivering as I run between buildings. Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend!

Over the last few seasons Alice + Olivia has become on of my favorite designers. Stacey Bendet creates clothes that are feminine yet edgy, and bright yet neutral. Season after season I am constantly drawn back by the fun colors, patterns, and cuts shown at the Alice + Olivia presentations. Above are some of my favorite looks from their presentation this past week in New York.

 I love the mix of classic spring/summer items (can you say stripes and florals?) with embroidered sweaters and pieces with not so classic cuts. The first look is definitely my favorite. I'm always drawn to the mix of stripes and floral, and it seems to be everywhere these days, but with a background of black this look really stands apart from the rest.

I know this spring I'll be looking forward to seeing how people style all of these Alice + Olivia pieces. For a little fall inspiration though check out the FW 2013 line, I'm obsessed with it as well!

Designer Obsession: Alice + Olivia

When I started this month's 20 Under $20 post I kept finding pieces I loved for just over $20 and wanted to share them with you. So I have switched it up a bit with everything under $25 this month.

At the beginning of September, even with the temps are still in the 80s, I always go into full fall mode. This usually means I pull out the darker colors and leopard print that I love so much. For under $25 I have my eyes on this leopard print and black clutch as well as man black and grey scarves and sweaters.

This fall I keep finding deep blue and maroon accessories that I love. These brocade flats are the perfect way to easily add pattern to a neutral outfit. Adding pops of rich color with a scarf like this or nail polish like this one is also a do. Also, you all must get your hands on a pair of these gloves. They let you text on an iPhone without having to take the gloves off. Perfect for once the weather gets chillier in the next few months!

Happy Friday! This week went pretty quickly, which may be because I only had three days of class. This week I have no classes on Friday so my weekend started early last night!

Since Fashion Week started yesterday all I've been thinking about is how close I am to everything. Sadly down in Greenwich Village (and with no invites) I have missed most of the action. I will definitely be by my computer today to check out some of my favorite shows online. Rebecca Minkoff at 3pm and Nicole Miller at 6pm are on my list for today!

I hope you all have a great weekend! The weather looks like it is going to be gorgeous here so I will be spending precious time outside before it gets cold and I'm drowning in work.

{Forever 21 top, STS Blue jeans, Topshop flats, unknown bag}

After only two days of class I feel like I'm already starting to get the hang of dressing for school in New York (while everything else is still a little confusing). While it is still pretty hot outside most of my classrooms are over air conditioned making most summer outfits impossible to wear. I've found the easiest combination is a comfy pair of jeans and a loose top. I love this tee that I found in Forever 21 because not only is it peplum but the stripes are also so fun! I know it will be perfect for those days when I'm running late but still want to look cute.

What is your go-to look for class?

p.s. I'm still looking for pretty places to take pictures near where I live so for now please excuse the gross siding and cars from New Jersey.

Outfit: Class Classic

{picture of me taken by my roommate Alice!}

Classes start today and while I'm excited for most of them I cannot believe that summer is over. I've been at school for so long without having any classes and now I'll have so much less time to do all the things on my New York list. This weekend I had an incredible time with friends walking around the city and checking out the street fairs right by where I live.

Of course we also did a little shopping since the sales are great this time of year and I needed a dress for a harbor cruise. Sadly I didn't find a dress and instead found everything else I wanted but didn't need. I'll put pictures up from the cruise soon since there were some of the most incredible views from our boat.

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend to end summer. Cross your fingers that my first day of classes goes well!
