I wouldn't consider myself as someone who jumps on all the newest trends (besides off the shoulder of course), but the moment I saw crop flare jeans I knew I needed them. Flared jeans were my childhood and I distinctly remember the Hollister pair I wore on the first day of 7th grade with layered tank tops. So, when the skinny jean trend came around I was pretty skeptical I'd ever be willing to give up my flares. Of course, flash forward about 10 years and I live in my skinny jeans but couldn't be more excited to embrace the return of the flare.

While I've been lusting after this trend for a while it took until Old Navy released a pair for only $36 for me to finally press purchase. I quickly learned that these trendy crops work just as well for a lazy weekend afternoon as they do for a dinner with friends or a date (though they might also qualify as man repelling?). All you have to do is switch sneakers and stripes for heels and a simple black blouse.

If you're looking for your very own pair of crop-flares definitely watch out for two things - 1) Avoid rips and leave all the rouging for the bottom of the jeans and 2) The right length is key. This is not a time to settle for a pair that might be too long!

Plus, all the pairs I've linked to below are under $90!

Happy first day of fall! I feel a bit like a 5 year old who's birthday is finally here because I'm so just excited for the temperatures to finally start cooling off. Tomorrow is supposedly the last days with a high in the 80s for a while to come and you know I couldn't be happier.

With cooler temperatures on their way that means it is officially time to start building out your fall wardrobe. Say yes to cozy sweaters and stacked booties, but mostly importantly say yes to all the suede pieces in stores right now. I jumped on the leather train a few years back when it seemed like everything brands were putting out had leather included somewhere, and now that the same thing is happening with suede I'm all about it.

Now, to get down to specifics - the jacket I'm wearing in this post is everything. When I first saw it making rounds last spring I knew I needed it, but it wasn't until it came this fall that I finally jumped on the olive version (thanks for the birthday present m & d). Not only does the jacket have that heavy high quality feeling everyone wants to find, but no matter the color you pick you'll feel like a badass when you're wearing it.

My love for suede has already started spreading to other parts of my closet with this skirt, and I can tell you there will be plenty more added as the chiller months proceed. To help share the suede love I've shared a few of my favorite suede pieces under $100, including a few lower priced versions of my jacket, below!

All Suede All The Time

The day is finally here, my 21st birthday! It’s been a long time coming, especially since I have one of the latest birthdays of all my friends. It’s a bit crazy to think that the next big age milestone after 21 is 30 then 40 then 50. I’m sure time is going to fly by, and as with every birthday I’m just hoping that good things come my way this year.

Of course I’ll be celebrating the way every other 21 year old celebrates - putting on a pretty dress, my favorite heels, and testing out my finally legal ID.

I found this gorgeous LBD on sale at Zara this summer, but you can see some of my favorite LBDs available now below.

Hope you all have a happy Monday!

Happy Friday everyone! I can't believe we're only just getting to Friday...but cheers to the weekend.

This outfit is easily one of my favorite I've ever shown on the blog, both because of each individual piece and how they all come together. You all know how much I love stripes, so when I found this top at Zara I kind of freaked out. It's one of those amazing pieces that can both be dressed up for parties and events or thrown on with boyfriend jeans and sneakers. This look is kind of the perfect in between though, and I wish I could wear it every day without people judging me.

Along with the top, these jeans, shoes, and bag are easily my favorite purchases of the fall so far (along with a gorgeous jacket you'll be seeing soon). An even more important bonus of this bag by Angela Roi is that a portion of every purchase goes to the ASPCA, so you're not only getting a gorgeous new accessory, but you're supporting an important cause as well.

I hope you all have a fun weekend planned! I'll be keeping things pretty low key over here since Monday is my 21st and as you all know a 21st birthday will never be a low key one ;)

Life's been a bit crazy lately, so When & Wear has definitely been taking a back seat to school and work. However, as I start to get a handle on my fall schedule I wanted to share what I've been up to with all of you lately. I'm always posting on Instagram, so if you want live updates make sure to follow along there :)

NYC has not been letting up on this summer heat, which means I've been living in my favorite pair of shorts from Banana Republic. They honestly go with everything and while I don't like to admit it, I wear them probably three times a week. Unfortunately, they're from last season, but this pair on sale will do just the trick in these last couple weeks of summer.

You know I love my tacos... and while mexican food in NYC is apparently not nearly as great as what you'll find in California (or so I'm told), Tacombi is the perfect place to celebrate the weekend with friends. My favorite is definitely the crispy fish taco, and if you couldn't tell from the image above, the guac is to die for!

If you follow me on Instagram then you'll know I started an internship at rewardStyle last week! It's been AMAZING so far (and yes the caps are necessary). My team is pretty amazing and I started just in time for NYFW, so I got to meet a bunch of people who work out of the Dallas headquarters who were in town for the LTLxMilkMakeup party!

While most of my time is spent in class, studying, or at work I was able to escape to Roosevelt Island for a few hours last weekend. This spot is definitely not well known to tourists, but is most definitely worth a trip. You just jump on the tram, which will give you amazing views of the skyline from above. Then once you reach the little island the views of Manhattan are even better and the crazy city crowds are gone. I will have to take another trip once the leaves start to turn, because I can't even imagine how gorgeous it will be then!

September in NYC

And just like that, it's back to school for me! Yesterday I had the last first day of school I'll likely ever have and it was definitely a bit emotional. After my classes I headed to the NYU Reality Show, a musical show put together by upperclassmen for the incoming freshman each year. As the last song finished tears were stinging my eyes and I realized how fast these last few years have flown by. Luckily, the one positive thing from getting emotional this early in the year is that I'll definitely cherish the next few months.

Of course, as with all other years I couldn't have been more excited to go shopping for a first day of school outfit. I'm so ready for fall, but since the weather doesn't entirely agree this mustard colored dress was the perfect compromise. This dress is from Zara, but I've linked to a few other mustard pieces I love since it really is a great fall color, especially if you're already a fan of olive.

Outfit: Last First Day

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

My favorite month of the year has arrived and I couldn't be more ready to start transitioning to fall. Unfortunately, the weather in New York stays pretty hot and humid throughout the whole month of September so it's not quite time to pull out my sweaters and coats just yet.

However, that doesn't mean we can't all start wearing some of the best fall trends. Some of my favorites this year include dark florals, all things suede, and flare cut jeans and the best part is you can start wearing all of these trends before temperatures drop below 60 degrees. Mixing typical summer tanks and sandals with pieces in deeper colors and heavier fabrics is the perfect way to start transitioning your summer wardrobe into a fall one. A couple must-try pairings are cropped trousers with a easy tank, breezy dresses with suede jackets, and sleeveless sweaters with flare jeans - all which you can find below :)

Plus, my birthday is just a couple weeks away and this suede jacket from BlankNYC is looking like it's going to be my birthday splurge. All last winter I lusted over the jacket and I think it's finally time to take the plunge since it's back for this fall. If you're looking for a cheaper version though - this option is only $65!
