I can't even tell you how excited I am about today's post! I moved into my first real apartment at the beginning of June and it's been a serious work in progress since then. Switching from a college dorm (albeit a very nice one) to a walk up apartment was definitely a big change, but it's made me feel even more at home in New York. While my bedroom is smaller than some many people's closets it's my escape and I love getting to come home everyday.

My first day of class is a week from today but I'm not quite ready to give up summer just yet. While I was home in Massachusetts with my family for a couple weeks we headed up to Old Orchard Beach in Maine for a weekend of beach time. Since most of my summer was spent inside an office a few days of sun and sand were just what I needed.

With school just a couple of weeks away my mind has been on getting organized for what is sure to be a busy semester. Once you're finished packing for school and planning out your schedule it's time to start thinking about your on-the-go organization.

Back to College: Tote Bag Essentials

Every year when August comes around September issues of magazines come out and stores stock their shelves with 'pre-fall' styles. I'm automatically sucked into fall fall and dream of cooler mornings wrapped up in sweaters. While I know I'll regret saying this later I'm ready for fall in New York. For now though, the temperatures are seriously hot and humid so I've been wearing a few of my favorite early fall pieces with shorts and sleeveless blouses. This sweater is easily my favorite fall piece I've picked up so far. I've worn it so many ways - with loose shorts, over a bathing suits, with dark ripped jeans - and I'm still coming up with more.

Back to school season is in full swing and it's hard to believe that some people go back to school in less than two weeks. Luckily, I have until the beginning of September to relax and refresh before a hectic school schedule begins! In preparation for going back to school though, I have my top ten pieces for a college wardrobe. One of the most common questions I hear from soon-to-be college freshman is what to pack for school and while my dorm room packing list covers most everything, it doesn't cover clothes. While not every school is the same and you'll need more then than items in your suitcase, these are the pieces every girl should have.

So, can you tell I'm more than a little obsessed with off the shoulder tops? This white top was actually the first one I bought back in July for the 4th. I was so uncertain about wearing it that I tried on 10 different outfits and even multiple friends asking for their advice. After a little convincing I wore it for the 4th and haven't been able to stop wearing it since.

Outfit: Summer Weekends

Everything about this weekend was perfect and I wish I could have held onto it for a few more days. My little sister arrived in the city Friday night and after that it really was go go go. However, even with days packed with plans it actually felt pretty relaxing. Saturday we explored our favorite exhibits in The Met and then wandered around Central Park before laying out a blanket for a picnic.
