Happy hump day everyone! Things are a bit crazy in work and life this week as I prepare for the long weekend, but I wanted to share these photos from the weekend.  My friend suggested we head over to Dumbo for the evening, and boy was I glad he convinced me to leave Manhattan for the night. The sunset over the skyline was just gorgeous and the way the light hit the carousel pretty much blew me away.

You may be thinking, wow Caroline only wears that new romper she put up on the blog last week, and while that is actually very true, this look is actually two separate pieces that are both oldies but goodies. I wore both this top and the shorts a lot last summer, but they're just too easy not to throw on for an evening of exploring. I've linked to a few of my favorite similar options below!

Summer holidays have always been some of my favorite days of the year. Not only do you get the day off school or work, but a back yard barbecue or day at the beach is basically my heaven. Even better is the fact that I can break out all my red, white, and blue pieces without anyone giving me weird looks.

This year Memorial Day was a bit of a wash out, so I'm crossing my fingers that the 4th stays sunny. While my plans aren't entirely figured out, I will be heading out to Long Island for a bit to stay with a friend and get some much needed fresh air. I can almost guarantee my look for the 4th will consist of denim shorts and a striped top, but I've been tempted by a few dressier pieces like this romper or this blouse. Just writing about the 4th makes me dream about seafood, sun, and friends -- thank god it's only 10 days away! There are also some amazing holiday-made pieces on sale right now like this To the Beach tote for only $25. Plus, if you shop today you'll be able to take advantage 50% off everything at Ann Taylor and 50% off sale at J.Crew.

I'll be sharing more of my Fourth of July style in the next week as well as my guide to Rockport, where the picture above was taken, so make sure to stop by Monday!

With the beginning of summer and the start of my internship I realized that I seriously needed a break from the social media and blogging world. I always love taking pictures and writing posts, but sometimes it's nice to just live life for a while without thinking about putting on a picture worthy outfit or bringing my camera along. However, after a little more than a week detox I'm back and definitely re-inspired.

This weekend I also picked up this adorable romper from Loft that is not only in my favorite summer style, off the shoulder, but is also the perfect day-to-night piece! I wore it all day for brunch with friends and tanning in Washington Square Park and then all I had to do was throw on a pair of chunky heels and the look was perfect for a night out. Unfortunately, the romper is sold out online, but I've linked to a few of my other favorite options below!

On another note, I've written about Caffe Dante before, but truly it's my new favorite brunch spot! Everything is so delicious and getting to sit outside looking over the painted brownstones on McDougal is the perfect place to catch up with friends.

Off The Shoulder Romper

Just popping in quickly today to share a few pictures from my gloomy memorial day in Cambridge. After a week of gorgeous weather Memorial Day was a wash out, so instead of heading to the beach my mom and I headed into the city to do some shopping and exploring around Harvard Square in Cambridge. I'd only every walked around the Harvard campus in the fall (think classic New England foliage everywhere), and didn't realize just how gorgeous and green it would be in early summer. That being said, I apologize in advance for the picture overload :)

On another unrelated not - I'm just about to start my third day at work and it's been just amazing. However, getting back into full time work mode and trying to soak in everything about the projects I'm working has been draining all the energy out of me, hence the limited writing in todays post.

Today is definitely a bittersweet one... My brief summertime freedom is ending, but I'm also starting my summer internship that I've been excited for for months! It's definitely going to be an amazing experience and I can't wait to get started. However, starting my job does mean that lazy days and impromptu middle of the week hikes are no longer possible. Luckily, I've had plenty of time over the last two weeks for fun day trips, so I'll be sharing pictures of my various adventures of the next week or so!

While I am most definitely a city girl (bugs really aren't my thing...) it's always nice to head home and spend a little time with nature. Just getting to sit out in my backyard with lemonade and a great book is usually enough, but I took it up a notch by heading out on a four hour hike up Mount Monadnock with a couple friends! Honestly, the hike kicked my butt - It was basically 2 hours of climbing rocks up a steep hill, not exactly what I expected. Once we reached the top though the views were absolutely incredible and my sore muscles didn't seem to matter as much.

Now that I'm back in the city you won't see me climbing any more mountains anytime soon, but I'm hoping I'll be able to get in another hike when I go home again in August!

City Girl Meets Nature

Just getting to Memorial Day seems to have made the weather turn to perfect summer and you'll see no complaints from me :) I've been waiting months to pull out my summer favorites and try out a few of the new pieces I've gotten this spring.

In April, Tobi sent me a few of their spring pieces to try out, and this dress is one of my favorites! I'm sure you've all seen the trend of lace up tops and dresses, and while it's usually not my style I love the nautical twist of the trend in this dress. Adding an off the shoulder top underneath was the perfect layer to a) keep me a little warmer and b) hide the front of my bra. Finishing the whole look with a bright red lip just screamed summer to me, and I'm sure you'll be seeing this look a few more times throughout the summer.

Tobi has some of the best summer pieces and I'm particularly obsessed with their dresses and rompers. My favorites right now are this wrap dress, this summer plaid romper, and this black off-the-shoulder dress
