Happy Friday everyone! This week seemed to fly by, something that tends to start happening to me in the summer. While I still tend to be pretty busy in the summer I love the weeks where you can lose track of the days.

After a long week of intense heat and humidity (temps in the 90s that felt like over 100!) the rain finally came and will be here for the rest of the weekend. I'm settling down for a lazy weekend since I don't have to work! I just started watching Heart of Dixie on Netflix and I'm obsessed. The main character, played by Rachel Bilson, is a New York Doctor who has to work in a small town in Alabama. It is hilarious and sweet and has quickly become my favorite show. Plus, as per usual Rachel Bilson looks incredibly stylish.
I hope you all have some fun planned for the weekend!

The temperatures and humidity in MA this week have been beyond ridiculous. As you can see from these pictures I've given up trying to tame my hair and I've been wearing the lightest makeup possible. Weeks like these are when I think about moving to Alaska, but then I remember how much more I hate freezing cold snowy days. I've been going straight for the easiest and lightest pieces in my closet to attempt to beat the heat. Though I must say I'm extremely grateful for friends with pools. On these scorching days anything but a bathing suit is too much.

Outift: Beating the Heat

{Kimchi Blue Dress vis UO, Ralph Lauren sandals, unknown clutch, Forever 21 chain bracelet and spike bracelet, Gap red bracelet, Alex and Ani bead bracelet, Nordstrom watch}

This dress that I bought from Urban Outfitters a few months ago has already been worn countless times. I almost never find shirt dresses that I like but this dress is easy to throw on whenever I'm running out the door. There are many other patterns available online and I would definitely suggest checking them out!

The ridiculous heat wave that is hitting the Northeast this week is making dresses like these even more desirable. Even denim shorts seem to heavy and all I've wanted to do is sit in a pool for hours on end. I'm counting down the days until the highs drop back below the mid 90s.

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is spend a day by the beach. I remeber when I lived in Pennsylvania we used to drive to the Jersey Shore and explore the boardwalk. Now I loving going to Rockport, Ma and splitting my time between the beach and the quaint shops and restaurants. For days like these it is best to have an easy coverup that you can throw over your bathing suit.

I've been searching for the perfect coverup for a while and I think I've found it! I love this white crochet coverup from Topshop because the neutral color will go with all your bathing suits and it doesn't really feel like a coverup. The pineapple bikini from J.Crew is perfect to wear underneath and it is one of my favorites for the summer. With the right accessories, like a dainty necklace and simple sandals, you'll be ready for a day exploring by the beach!

This spring orangey coral has really become my favorite color. This blazer and this skirt have already been shown on the blog and now I have this gorgeous skirt from Topshop in a similar color. The day before my graduation party I went looking for something special to wear and came across this skirt on a last chance rack in the Topshop section of Nordstrom.

As soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect, but the $80 price tag made me think again. I went to four or five other stores looking for something else but ended up finding everything that would go perfectly with the skirt. So as you can see it is now in my closet!

I hope you all had a great first weekend of summer! My graduation party was great and I loved getting to see family that lives far away. My little baby cousins have grown up so fast! I'm looking forward to this week since the weather will be very summer like with highs in the mid 80s and sunny skies!

Outfit: Bright Eyelet

{from my tumblr}

As the first official day of summer arrives my mind is always focused on beach days, barbecues, and warm nights. The idea of white eyelet dresses, seersucker shorts, and worn in sperrys has suddenly become much more appealing. Even though I have been out of school for a few weeks this day always seems to put people in the slower summer mindset.

My weekend will be filled with lots of family and friends starting with my graduation party tomorrow. I'm looking forward to spending the afternoon with family that I haven't seen for a few months. I also can't wait for all the delicious food my family and I are preparing for the party! I'll be filling up on sweet lemonade and my mom's special corn salad.

I hope you all have fun plans for the weekend to celebrate the start of summer!

It has been surprisingly cold for the end of June these last few weeks and I've been turning to easy basics for cold rainy days. I love this button up from Forever 21 because just like this chambray top it is a sleeveless version of a classic.

For days when I turn to jeans and an easy top I like to pile on more accessories. Usually I turn to a patterned scarf but the other day I decided to switch it up and layer two of my favorite necklaces. While they are much different styles the similar neutral colors go well together and I love the way the necklaces peek out from behind the collar of the shirt.

After seeing the picture above on Sequins and Stripes last week I've been obsessing over Liz's chambray blazer. My obsession with chambray can be seen here, but I have yet to invest in a chambray blazer.

I love the idea of these blazers because as Liz shows with her outfit they are the perfect layer for summer and a great replacement for a denim jacket. The Target blazer is a perfect low cost option at only $35, but I am in love with the J.Crew blazer for $120. A blazer like this is definitely something I would splurge and spend a little more for since it will go with everything and could work for many seasons.

I've had my eye on this Michael Kors dress for the last few months and an article in a recent Cosmo magazine featuring similar dresses brought back my love for it a couple days ago.

Unfortunately both the Michael Kors dress and the dresses in the Cosmo magazine are way out of my budget. So I've been on the hunt for a similar dress. I love the graphic floral print that just seems more fun than typical floral prints.

Luckily, I've been able to find many other options for much lower prices! My favorite are the second and third dresses that I found at Lulus! I also love the fifth dress that my friend sent me the link to. The cut of the shoulders is gorgeous!

I'm only fifty pages into The Devil Wears Prada novel and I already love the book ten times more than the movie, which is saying a lot! One of my favorite parts so far is when Emily is telling Andrea about Miranda's "slight obsession with scarves". This is a hilarious detail of the novel that was sadly left out in the movie, and it has brought back my obsession with scarves.

I have more scarves than I can count and they are slowly taking over my bedroom as they have expanded from the closet to my dresser (and that is starting to overflow too). So when I saw this patriotic fish printed scarf at Target the other day it had to come home with me.

Happy Monday! I'm starting my week off in the best way possible. I'll be soaking up the sun and watching the waves crash on the beach, something I haven't done nearly enough of this summer!

Happy Father's Day Weekend everyone! Unfortunately I'm working for most of the day on Father's Day but I am looking forward to a nice brunch with my family.

As I've started to get into the summer swing of things I've realized I need to find productive things to do with  my free time so that I don't end up watching tv all day when I'm not at work. So I've started reading The Devil Wears Prada! While I've seen the movie probably a dozen times and can quote Miranda Priestly in my sleep, I've never actually read the novel.

I'm also thinking about starting a few DIY project and have been searching for some ideas. So far I'm thinking about this bracelet or this bracelet DIY from Stripes and Sequins (Her DIYs are the best but sometimes complicated.) I also love this bulletin board DIY and pretty much everything from I Spy DIY. I'd love more suggestions for projects if you have any!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend!

I'm definitely a dress kind of girl. During the summer my go to is an easy sundress, but sometimes  shorts are much more practical. Rompers combine the ease of a dress and the practicality of shorts and I've already had many instances this summer when I want to wear one. So I have been searching for the perfect every day romper.

While I love patterned rompers like this one forever 21 and this one from Topshop I thought I should invest in a solid color first. Some of my favorite solid options (along with the one above) are this one from Topshop and this one from Blaque Label.

After seeing this Instagram picture of Liz from Sequins and Stripes I also fell in love with the necklace above from Bauble Bar. There are three other colors as well!  The pops of color work perfectly with the simple romper and small bracelets.

My love of printed pants has continued into the summer heat with printed shorts! I love casual printed shorts (like these from J.Crew or these from Gap) but sometimes a pair of dressier shorts works perfectly for a party or dinner with friends. When I saw these high waisted printed shorts from Forever 21 I knew they would become a new favorite.

The fun pattern coordinates well with so many different colors and the slight sheen makes them pop. On a chillier day last week I paired them with a sweater but they would also look great with a chambray top, tight crop top, or loose tank top. While this pair is not available online some other great options from Forever 21 are these high waisted shorts in a similar pattern in a green/blue color and these nautical striped shorts.

I'm definitely a flip flop kind of girl during the summer time but most of the time my worn out rainbows won't cut it. Instead I like to find a comfortable pair of sandals that go with everything as well. The perfect pair of sandals have an ankle strap so that they don't fall off and are sturdy enough that I can walk around for hours.

I bought the black and brown pair from BP at Nordstrom a few weeks ago and they are already perfectly worn in. Since much of my wardrobe is made up of black pieces the black strap ensures the sandals coordinate with everything.

Before buying a pair of sandals I suggest trying on four or five pairs just to figure out what feels the best. Some people like straps higher up on there ankle, but I like lower straps. Also, sandals with a T-strap feel much different then sandals with a strap across your toes. If you don't like the way your sandals feel you won't want to wear them, so make sure you find the right pair!

p.s. All the sandals above are $60 and under!

{Urban Outfitters dress (no longer available online but available in stores), J.Crew Factory necklace, J.Crew shoes}

I have officially graduated from high school, and it is really weird to think about. Even though I had been counting down to graduation for years I still feel like I should be going to school every morning.The day of my graduation ended up being warm with blue skies for most of the day. Unfortunately, since there were torrential down pours for the two days beforehand we still had to have the ceremony inside.
I've seen a lot of posts recently about having the perfect Little White Dress, and I think I have found mine. I bought two other dresses for graduation before I found this dress. I love high neck that works perfectly with bright necklaces and the cut-outs on the side. A perfect LWD can be dressed up or down with different shoes and accessories and this one can be! Some of my other favorites are this shift dress and this dress from UO, as well as this Free People dress and this lace Dolce Vita dress.

Outfit: LWD on Graduation Day

{Picture via my Tumblr}

Unlike my usual TGIF post this week I actually can't believe it's Friday. This week has flown by and my summer truly begins tomorrow. While my classes finished last Friday this week was filled with senior activities such as graduation rehearsals, barbecues, and and a trip to six flags. A week ago I could at least tell myself it wasn't really the end of high school yet, but now it really is. Yesterday when I was signing my friends' yearbooks I found myself thinking about all the incredible memories I have with them and that is when everything really hit me. I'm definitely not sad to be finishing high school, but there will be many parts of these last four years that I will miss.

Please cross your fingers or say a prayer that eastern mass in sunny tomorrow afternoon so that my graduation can be outside. At this point I'm seeing 70% chance of rain all day, but the weather can change!

Have a great weekend!

I Can't Believe It's Friday

{Band of Gypsies dress via Urban Outfitters, Gap bracelet, Alex and Ani bangles, unknown heels}

I wore this dress to my Senior Banquet last night and of course I found it at Urban Outfitters. Usually I only find a few pieces every year at UO that I buy but this spring my wish list is very long. I've already bought multiple dresses and I have my eye on a few other shorts and tops.

 I love the paisley print with some bright and muted colors throughout the dress. While I dressed it up a little bit with my heels and earrings I know this dress will also be perfect with a denim jacket, easy flip flops, or even over a bathing suit through out the summer.

This Saturday is my high school graduation and I can't believe it it actually here. The week has been filled with fun events like a trip to six flags, delicious ice cream, and time spent catching up with my friends. I'm sure soon I'll be looking for a good book to read but for now I'm just happy doing nothing!

column two: top, earrings, scarf, necklace

As summer has started I've been bit with the nautical bug (along with about a thousand mosquito bites). Stripes, patriotic colors, and anchors make up a great deal of my wish list right now and luckily a some of these pieces are actually pretty affordable, including the blue and white dress above from forever 21 and red and white crop top from topshop.

I've also been loving pieces with unique touches such as the denim shorts above and tropical print phone case. Summer is the perfect time to throw on an easy pair shorts with a simple white T for hot days or add a few distinct accessories like the scarf and necklace above.

June 20 Under $20

Tuesday, June 4, 2013
{Urban Outfitters dress, Gap sandals, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Nordstrom watch}

One of my favorite parts of Summer is the warm nights where all you need to do is throw on a easy sundress and sandals. I'd already picked up a few new dresses for graduation events but when I found this dress at UO the other day for only $20 I had to take it home with me. The bright colors and fun pattern make it the perfect summer dress without any accessories, other than my trusty watch of course.

Make sure to check back tomorrow. I'll have the June 20 Under $20 post up!
