Easter has been one of my favorite holidays ever since I was little. My family has a tradition of having a huge brunch after church, complete with our favorite challah bread french toast, and then making huge ice cream sundaes in lieu of dinner. Not the healthiest of days, but it is definitely a holiday I'll always have memories of.
I also realized that this may be my last Easter at home for a while so I will definitely be trying to make it count. I'll be taking a few pictures of my outfit and post them later this week and tomorrow the monthly 20 Under $20 post will be up!
I hope you all have a nice Easter celebration planned for today whether it is with family or friends. Make sure to snack on at least a few jelly beans (starburst jelly beans are my favorite!) and chocolate bunnies!

Happy weekend! I think the extra F for finally was needed in TGIF so show how needed this weekend is. I have another busy weekend ahead of me but I'm extremely happy that this week is over. Most college decisions for my friends came out this week which caused a lot of heartbreak and awkward happiness at school. Then when you add in a few tests and projects it all makes for a pretty stressful week.
But it is time to forget about all that not-so-fun stuff and talk about the picture above. To start the weekend off with a little inspiration I have been scrolling through hundreds of tumblr pictures to find my favorite. When I saw this picture I knew it was perfect. This girl has mastered the game of dressing for spring when it still feels like winter. I'll be searching for a pair of pants like these!
Hope everyone has a good weekend ahead!

{American Eagle jacket, Gap sweater, American Eagle jeans, H&M flats}

So I have a few things to say about this outfit and the pictures above.
1) I didn't realize my jeans had gotten so wrinkled during the day yesterday. Anyone have any suggestions on how to not have that happen?
2) More importantly, I'm not sure what is going on with my hands in these pictures. I may be pretty pale from the horrible north east winter but the red/purple color in my hands is a bit scary. I  spent over an hour outside on a playground with little kids for a school activity I do, which might explain the horrible color.
Even with those awkward parts of these pictures I love this outfit! I've never really been a fan of any neon (or bright colors in general) but this is my new favorite sweater. Unfortunately, it is actually my sister's, but I've told her I will be stealing it often!

~ Caroline

p.s. I couldn't find these jeans online but they are available at American Eagle stores. Just look for the white jeggings (they don't feel like jeggings at all though!).

 {J.Crew necklace, Asos flats, New Look bowler bag}

Temps are supposed to hit the 50s this week in Mass, which if you live anywhere in the North East you know is the closest we have come to spring. With this springy weather I've not only been drawn to white but also brighter colors and pretty florals. I finally bought a new pair of white jeans, from American Eagle (link above), this weekend and I can't wait to pair them with bright colors. The outfit above is my favorite look for spring, pairing teals and corals together.

The bowler bag above is such a great steal (only $38!) and it pairs perfectly with many different looks for spring. I'm starting to love bowler bags because of their size and functionality. I can fit my camera a long with all other daytime essentials in them with no problem! I also love this one in a neutral color.

I promise to have a new outfit post up soon showing how I'm wearing my new white jeans!

Styling White Jeans: Coral and Floral

{Images from my Tumblr}

If you asked my friends they would tell you I'm overly obsessed with white, but I happen to disagree. During the winter I wear some winter white and cream, but rarely do I ever wear stark white, because lets be honest when you put bright white up to my skin in the winter I look worse than a vampire.

As spring is finally starting in the NorthEast (translation: we now have slush instead of snow) I am starting to crave real white again. If you scroll through my tumblr/pinterest feeds it becomes very obvious that I am obsessing over white. People always say that white is the absence of color (and sometimes they say that for black too, so I'm not sure what to believe), but I think white can make a bolder statement than many colors can.

 The pictures above are just a few of my favorite pictures from tumblr. Enjoy!

The Absence of Color

{American Eagle denim jacket, H&M top, Zara necklace, City Classified boots, JCrew necklace}

This was the outfit I wanted to wear yesterday. The bright blue pants and the denim jacket just scream spring and warm weather. Unfortunately, all that snow you see behind me has been accompanied by freezing temperatures. I ended up putting on a pair of jeans that covered my ankles and a warmer, more appropriate, jacket.

The necklace did still bring a little bit of spring into my practical outfit! I just can't wait for the days when I can throw on a pair of sandals with this outfit and take off my jacket.

Happy Friday on a better note! I'm definitely looking to my first weekend in a while without hours of homework on my plate.

Outfit: Mint and Blue

Friday, March 22, 2013

Truth be told I'm really lacking in inspiration these days. We just got another snow storm in Boston and while I was (extremely) grateful for an unexpected snow day, the many inches of slush and snow covering every surface has really discouraged any ideas of spring that I've had. I have found myself reaching for the same sweater, jeans, and flats combo over and over again. There are only so many times I can come up with a new combination with my same clothes that works in this freezing gross weather.

So all that being said I've been searching for ways to inspire and motivate myself into wearing something new, or at least something I haven't worn in a while. I need to force myself out of this slump. After scrolling through hundreds of images on Tumblr and Pinterest with no change in my attitude I realized I needed to do something a little more active. So I ended up going through my favorite blogs and magazines printing and cutting out images to update my cork boards.

However, neither of the cork boards in my bedroom are anywhere near my closet, and lets face it I really need inspiration to hit me over the head. To bring inspiration a little closer to my closet I put up these five pictures on the molding inside my closet. Featuring five of my favorite blogs in order: Cupcakes and Cashmere, Atlantic-Pacific, Caroline in the City, Damsel in Dior, and Cheetah is the New Black. The looks shown in these pictures are everything I want my outfits to look like; fun but sophisticated and unexpected but classic. I'm hoping that by looking at these pictures every morning I'll have a new stroke of inspiration to get my out of my slump.

What do you all do when you are stuck in a slump and end up wearing the same thing everyday? I'd love more inspiration ideas!

Truth be Told

Thursday, March 21, 2013
{Forever 21, Forever 21, Asos, JCrew, Madwell}

I always seem to go back and forth between tight skirt and flowy skirts. Some years I don't buy anything but loose flowly skirts and other years my closet is filled with bandage skirts, pencil skirts, etc. I think this summer is going to be filled with many tight skirts, and they will definitely be floral.

After seeing this skirt on Madewell's website I knew I needed to get my hands on a foral pencil skirt. It just seemed so perfect for summer days. I was actually daydreaming of hot sun and palm trees at my computer. Unfortunately the price tag (of over $300?!?) for this pretty little thing was more than ridiculous. So using one of my usual procrastination methods I went on the hunt for more floral pencil skirts.

After the Madewell skirt my favorite is definitely the green forever 21 skirt. Maybe it is because they have similar colors, and I got the same island floral feel. I'll definitely have to get my hands on one of these for when the sun decides to come out one of these days.

Hey All, I have another busy week ahead of me but I promise I'll try to keep the blog updated with some new finds and outfits!

These are a few of my favorite pictures from my phone as of lately. I've basically been living in this weird world where one day it is spring and next day it's winter again. I guess that is what spring is usually like, but I always seem to forget. Some nights its almost 50 degrees outside and others I'm curled up under my heated blanket with my new favorite tea (red raspberry! yummm).

Have a great beginning of the week!

Saturday Inspiration

Saturday, March 16, 2013
{Forever 21 jacket, Forever 21 blouse, J.Crew necklace, J brand jeans,  silver cape cod bracelet, gold alex and ani bracelet, Nordstrom ribbon bracelet}

Sun, glorious sun. It was so warm yesterday and all I wanted to do was sit outside and soak up the rays of sun that I know will soon be gone. People always say "If you don't like the weather in New England wait a minute." Well it goes the other way too. The moment the sun comes out and it starts to warm up it starts to rain or even worse, snow.

 I usually try to make the most of these days, but yesterday I had hours and hours of studying ahead of me so that just wasn't possible. I know I've said this before but seriously my teachers need to be a little nicer with the work load. Second Semester Senior year is suppose to be a breeze (all lies...). My weekends have been filled with late nights of studying instead of late nights of fun like they should be. So those bags under my eyes that are starting to take over my whole face are not from that crazy party I went to but from hours bent over a physics binder.

Hopefully this sun continues and school gets easier! For now though I have one of my favorite spring pieces for you. This jacket that I bought last spring at Forever 21 has become a wardrobe staple of mine. Whoever thought of navy and white striped moto jacket is a genius who I would love to meet someday. When the day comes where my jacket starts to fall apart (like all things from F21 eventually do) I'm not sure what I'll do with myself.

Sunshine and Stripes

Thursday, March 14, 2013
Urban Outfitters: purple, crochet, patterned, scalloped
Forever 21: striped, floral, white, starfish

When spring comes I always found hundreds (not exaggerating) of lust worthy dresses. From sun dresses to cocktail dresses I crave all of them! I also tend to have a three color wardrobe. Red, white, and blue take over my closet every spring and summer. And yes I know I'm very patriotic. My friends comment every time I wear a red, white, and blue outfit. What can I say I'm an American who loves her flag colors.

It seems this spring will be not different as almost every one of my favorite dresses incorporates one of these three colors. If you are looking for more red, white, and blue make sure to check out Urban Outfitters and Forever 21.

I've also found so many dresses on Asos this spring. My favorite is definitely the green floral shift dress above. It could easily be dressed up for a shower or graduation party (!) with heels and a nice blazer, or dressed down with sandals and a jean jacket!
Only a little over a week until spring officially begins! I'm pretending it is spring by wearing florals and drinking Izzes (while shivering).

Spring Dresses

Wednesday, March 13, 2013
1: A mix of my beach memories, pictures of friends and travels, my favorite books, and accessories.
2: I attempt to keep my desk surface clutter free, but I lave a love for pretty sticky notes.
3: There are layers of magazine clippings, bloggers I love, my own photos, and postcards from the last 6 years on this board.
4: I have a magazine addiction. This is only a small part of my collection. My favorites include Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and Seventeen (guilty pleasure!).
5: A mini piñata from Austin that always makes me smile

The other day as I was helping my sister reorganize her bedroom she told me I didn't care about sentimental things. At the time I was trying to persuade her to put an ugly stuffed animal away instead of displaying it on a shelf, which I thought was completely warranted. While at first her words stung a little I soon realized how wrong she was. I am an extremely sentimental person and over the years my desk has become a wall of my favorite memories end objects.
So I thought I'd give you all a little peek into my life outside of just my clothes. Hope you enjoy!

ps.s. I'm working on a few updates/changes to the blog. I'd love to know what changes you would suggest or like to see!

A Little Piece of Me

Tuesday, March 12, 2013
{image via my tumblr}

Happy weekend everyone! I'm very happy it is Saturday, even if my weekend is filled with homework and work. Yesterday is snowed again in Boston. More than 11 inches fell in my town and even though every town around us closed my school decided to stay open.

I realized for the first time today how much of a New Englander I have become since moving to Mass almost six years ago. I wore a light vest and flats out of the house as my dad reprimanded my "impractical choices". I then stopped at Dunkin Donuts to get my iced coffee where an older women told me I needed a warmer jacket. Snow doesn't scare me. why wear a winter jacket when it is 30 degrees out and snowing? Even if the snow is still covering everywhere I am ready for spring and refuse to wear my winter coat!
Have a good rest of the weekend!

Happy Weekend!

For the last spring trend of the week I have one of my favorites, bold stripes. The black and white stripes are sometimes called jail house stripes as well. Stripes are classic but this spring they are more striking and bold. I love the harsh contrast that these stripes cause in an outfit.

Some of my favorite pieces are the skirt, long sleeve shirt, and flats above. The flats are classic really. They will go with anything and everything and could easily be mixed with other patterns. The stripes on the skirt are great since the stripes are different sizes and won't look as unflattering as blunt thick stripes. I also love the top because I can see it with pastel jeans or tucked into a colorful skirt!

Happy Friday! This week has felt like a thousand weeks put together so I'm extremely happy it is over. Hope we can all get a little  r&r and some fun before Monday morning.

Spring 2013 Trend: Bold Stripes

Friday, March 8, 2013
{clockwise from top right: Nasty Gal yellow blazer, tobi dress, J.crew shorts, tobi moto jacket, forever 21 pink jacket}
{runway images from style.com}

Tweed is definitely having a moment this spring, and I couldn't be more excited about it. From jackets to shorts tweed is popping up everywhere! Worn the right way I believe tweed can be sophisticated and fun at the same time.

That being said tweed can easily become frumpy or unflattering so make sure to find pieces that work for your style and body. An easy way to make sure you don't end up looking frumpy is by wearing tweed pieces in edgier cuts, like a motorcycle jacket. I love the bright pink tweed moto jacket (also available in a cream color!) above because it could be worn for so many occasions.

During fashion week in the fall I was obsessed with the Rebecca Minkoff tweed shorts suit that is shown above, but I'm not sure I could wear that much tweed. Instead I've been looking for the perfect pair of tweed shorts and I think I may have finally found a pair.

There are dozens of great tweed pieces on tobi, Nasty Gal, and Forever 21 for completely affordable prices! I would definitely recommend checking it out.

p.s. Only one day until the weekend! I'm willing myself to get through this week. The month of march is notoriously the worst month of school. Counting down the days until May 31st!

Spring 2013 Trend: Tweed

Thursday, March 7, 2013

From lace to chiffon, sheer fabric is in for spring 2013. This is probably one of the easiest trends too try because you may already have a few sheer pieces in your wardrobe. Designers such as Alice + Olivia, Oscar de la Renta, and BCBG Max Azria showed off model's stomachs and legs for the spring and summer, but if you aren't comfortable showing so much skin there are easy ways to still wear sheer pieces
Wearing a sheer blouse with a camisole or bandeau underneath gives the effect of a sheer top while still being office/school appropriate. Another top I love is the black rouged top that is only sheer around the shoulders. And if you want the effect of a sheer piece without anything actually being see through the dress above is a great option.

There are hundreds of tops, skirts, and dresses that have cheer chiffon or lace. It is a perfect easy trend for spring.

Spring 2013 Trend: Sheer

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

The second trend for spring I love is short suits. I'm dying to try this trend out in some way. Part of the reason this trend is so great is because once you have a short suit you can wear the pieces separately and create many different looks.

However, wearing a patterned short suit is a little intimidating (at least I think so). The black and white suit above is a great option when starting out because it has a simple color scheme of neutrals. Black and white is safer than busting out a pink or blue suit. Another option if you don't think you can wear a whole patterned short suit is pairing a blazer with a pair of shorts. I love the idea of pairing a patterned blazer with a solid pair of shorts. A navy and white striped blazer would look great with navy shorts (or red/coral shorts for a pop of color). By pairing the navy striped blazer and navy shorts you will get the effect of a short suit without as much pattern.

Spring 2013 Trend: Short Suits

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

This week  I'll be featuring some of my favorite Spring 2013 trends that I saw on the runway last fall! I will be featuring a new trend every day until Friday.

My first trend of the season is patterned pants. I've seen patterned pants of all sorts popping up all over the place. On the runway last fall some of my favorite pants were done by Lela Rose, J.Crew, and Rebecca Minkoff and as much as I'd love to buy those pants I need more affordable options.

Patterned pants can be worn by literally anyone. No matter what your body shape, height, etc you will be able to find a pair of pants that flatter you! Patterned jeans are a great way to ease into this trend. I know that ever since I took the leap and bought these chevron jeans I've realized how wearable patterned pants can be. If you are intimidated by crazy colors and patterns the polka dotted pants from forever 21 shown above are simple and can be paired with a simple white top.

I'd love to mix prints but with crazy patterned pants solid tops are an easy choice. The easiest choice is a neutral plain shirt but there are other relatively easy options. Pair a bright color shirt  that coordinates well with the pants (like pink with navy blue). A lace shirt can look great in any color and will add another texture. Lastly my favorite choice is a chambray shirt. I love my chambray shirt and it is the perfect addition to patterned pants, especially when you want to make dressier pants look casual.

Definitely go out and look for the perfect pair of patterned pants for you. H&M, Forever 21,  and Topshop have really great options for affordable prices.

Spring 2013 Trend: Patterned Pants

Monday, March 4, 2013
column four: bathing suit top, suit bottom, peplum top, bandeau

Happy March everyone! The beginning of March means the beginning of spring, or at least I hope it does. I've never accepted the New England winters I've lived in for the last six years and when the temps finally reach the 50s I will be overjoyed to pull out my spring wardrobe.

This month's 20 under $20 actually includes 21 pieces if you count the bathing suit as two different pieces (which I do since each piece is $15). I just couldn't get rid of anything though! Recently I've been obsessing over bright/patterned scarves. Forever 21 has amazing options and the striped scarf from Urban Outfitters is one of the softest scarves I've ever felt. The mint shorts are from target and they look almost exactly like the J.Crew shorts, except they are $18. You're thinking right, that is less than half the price of the J.Crew shorts.

Another one of my favorite trends right now is embellished nails, especially when just the ring finger is embellished. Using the Essie lux effects topcoat you can easily attain this look. I love it paired with coral nails!

Lastly I found the black pouch above on sale at Urban Outfitters. It is a great size and could either be thrown in a larger tote during the day and used as a clutch at night. Black leather is pretty wintery but using Lauren Conrad's tutorial here you could easily transform it. I'd add  stripes of bright/bold colors to make it pop!
