I've been trying incredibly hard recently not to spend money. While I won't say I'm on a complete no shopping regimen I've been not to go into stores or online shop as much. For someone who loves shopping this can be incredibly hard. Luckily, knowing that saving money know will let me have more money for studying abroad in the fall is a good motivator.

However, there are a few things on my must-have list and one is a pair of sunglasses. I'm not a sunglasses person, but they are a necessity living in the city since the sun can become blinding in the summer. I've been looking for a fun but classic pair of sunglasses and have come to love 'Clubmaster' style that Ray Ban has. The $150 price tag is a little a lot more than I want to spend though, so I've been on the hunt for more options.

What do you all think about sunglasses? Is it worth it to splurge and buy the Ray Bans?

One of my spring must haves is a great cargo jacket. I found a great option last fall at J.Crew, but I thought I would share some of my favorites with you all. The most important things I look for when shopping for a cargo jacket is the weight, the color, and details. For spring you want a relatively light weight jacket so that you can wear it with other layers. Color and details are definitely personal choices, but I usually look for a darker jacket with a defined waist.

Since cargo jackets have become commonplace finding your perfect jacket is possible at whatever price range you're looking in. Looking at places like Gap and J.Crew that have classic style is the best way to ensure that your jacket is stylish for years!

I've had my eye on this Michael Kors dress for the last few months and an article in a recent Cosmo magazine featuring similar dresses brought back my love for it a couple days ago.

Unfortunately both the Michael Kors dress and the dresses in the Cosmo magazine are way out of my budget. So I've been on the hunt for a similar dress. I love the graphic floral print that just seems more fun than typical floral prints.

Luckily, I've been able to find many other options for much lower prices! My favorite are the second and third dresses that I found at Lulus! I also love the fifth dress that my friend sent me the link to. The cut of the shoulders is gorgeous!

Save vs Splurge: Graphic Floral Dress

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Hey all! I have a quick post today since my week is crazy busy. I only have three more days until April vacation starts though so I am trying to chug through!

I've recently been buying a lot of statement jewelry. While I used to wear mostly small delicate pieces in all silver or gold I've been drawn more towards bright and bold pieces. However, while JCrew and many other brands have incredible necklaces the price tag can get pretty steep. It begs the question, is this something I should really be spending $100 on?I'm sure you've noticed one of my favorite necklaces (seen here, here, and here on the blog) from J.Crew. I wear it all the time and I've been itching for more necklaces as spring has started!

How much do you think I should spend on a new statement necklace? Is Forever 21 the way to go or should a splurge a little and buy something that is sure to last?

I always seem to go back and forth between tight skirt and flowy skirts. Some years I don't buy anything but loose flowly skirts and other years my closet is filled with bandage skirts, pencil skirts, etc. I think this summer is going to be filled with many tight skirts, and they will definitely be floral.

After seeing this skirt on Madewell's website I knew I needed to get my hands on a foral pencil skirt. It just seemed so perfect for summer days. I was actually daydreaming of hot sun and palm trees at my computer. Unfortunately the price tag (of over $300?!?) for this pretty little thing was more than ridiculous. So using one of my usual procrastination methods I went on the hunt for more floral pencil skirts.

After the Madewell skirt my favorite is definitely the green forever 21 skirt. Maybe it is because they have similar colors, and I got the same island floral feel. I'll definitely have to get my hands on one of these for when the sun decides to come out one of these days.

I've been thinking about buying this Rebecca Minkoff bag for years. I love the bag and have never found anything just like it. However, with a price tag of $195 it is a little above the price range a high schooler, who babysits and scoops ice cream for a living, should be looking at.
This begs the question; save or splurge? I've found a few black crossbody bags that are similar to the Rebecca Minkoff bag. They are all great bags and cost much less than the RM bag, but I don't love any of them as much as my beloved mini MAC.  Should I buy a cheaper bag or is it worth it to splurge and buy the bag I've wanted for so long?

As Christmas day approaches I have been thinking about what I will be wearing to celebrate the holiday with my family. My family celebrates Christmas Eve with at my Grandpa's house with one side of the family and every is a little dressy. However, on Christmas day we spend time at my aunt's house where everyone is dressed in cozy clothes perfect for lounging, opening presents, and chowing down. I love this because I get to dress up one night and then stay cozy the next day, but I also have to plan two outfits ahead of time to pack.
A few weeks ago I finally bought a pair of maroon jeans after obsessing over them for months. They have been all over Stockholm Streetstyle and other blogs (above are a few of my favorites!) I've worn them so many times since then. I even got mine from F21 where they were only $15. Seriously though, everyone should get a pair of maroon jeans. I decided I'll be wearing these jeans on christmas but I haven't decided what to wear with them. Above are a few of my ideas of what to wear with your red jeans, whether you have a dressy or casual Christmas.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas planned filled with family, friends, good food, and a few surprises!

p.s. The Forever 21 jeans look darker in real life. They are more maroon then red.
