Milkshakes at Hamilton's

Monday, February 16, 2015

New York is filled with so many quaint coffee shops and little restaurants, and while 90% of the time I'll suggest meeting a friend for coffee sometime's coffee just doesn't cut it. Last weekend after meeting a couple friends in the West Village we decided it was one of those times. The three of us ended up at Hamilton's Luncheonette going through every type of drink and sundae on the menu. Not only do they have classic milkshakes (or frappes as we call them in MA), but they also have phosphates, lactates, puffs, and rickeys. Before asking the waitress none of us had any idea what half those drinks were. I'm also dying to go back and try their sandwiches (they have hot dogs!) and the breakfast menu.

One of the best parts of Hamilton's was the cozy and un-cramped feeling of the place. While I'm sure it's busier during the warmer months (only crazy people like ice cream during the winter) it's still the perfect place to catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while. Plus, the huge windows and bar seating make for the best people watching view in town.

Hamilton's really comes through on there "Old-School Good Times" motto and if you're in the area (or really anywhere in the NYC area) this spot needs to be on your must-try list.
