My go to pair of shoes has always been flats. My friends know that even if it is 20 degrees outside I love to throw on a pair of flats as I run out the door. If you had asked me a year ago what I thought about slip-on sneakers I would have looked at you like you were crazy, because my only impression of those shoes was the classic checkered Vans that 'skaters' wore. With my comparatively feminine style the thought of wearing a pair of slip on sneakers seemed crazy to me, that was until recently.

Even though the slip on trend started a while ago it's taken me until now to actually see the appeal. I believe this is partly because I'm getting oh so sick of boots and slip ons have a bit more foot coverage than my usual flats, but I also am loving them for spring/summer. I love the idea pairing patterned slip ons with white jeans or a dressier skirt (or even just the classic jeans and striped tee) as an alternative to my normal flats. Another plus I've started to consider is the comfort factor of slip ons. When the weather in the city is nice I love walking around and exploring and slip ons are most definitely the nicest shoes on my feet!

What do you all think of the slip on trend? Shop some of my favorite picks below!

I've definitely become a leopard print addict in the last few years and though I love the print I've really kept it only on my shoes. My leopard print flats, which have been worn hundreds of times, have finally started to fall apart leaving me in search of a new pair.

 However, in my search for new flats I've also found almost all my favorite pieces (jackets, dresses, clutches, scarves, etc) in leopard print. This has only made my leopard addiction worse, and sadly more than one of these items are out of my price range (think Kate Spade Beau bag). So my addiction will continue and in the mean time I will continue to ogle over these pieces (and maybe buy those flats!).

Happy Saturday! These weekend is jam packed for me since my parents are coming to visit and I have lots of midterms next week.

I'll be resorting to easy classics this weekend during my busy days. However, one of the easiest ways I like to switch up the usual jeans and a sweater is by wearing coated jeans that look like leather! I love the pair above from Topshop, but I recently bought a less expensive pair in black from Old Navy that look great. Adding easy flats and a comfy sweater makes for a look perfect for a day filled with studying and exploring.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

{Pictures of me and the bagel taken by my incredible roommate Alice!}

Saturday mornings have become something I look forward to every week. Not only do they mean the weekend is finally here, but even better it means breakfast with one of my friends. Since there is no way the classic New York brunch is a possibility on my budget my roommate and I go out for delicious bagels on Saturday mornings.

Walking through the pretty streets of the East Village to go to our bagel place is enough on it's own. However, bagels at the end is definitely  great reward. This week we tried Tompkins Sq's French Toast bagel with Apple Cinnamon cream cheese! I think we both agreed it was the best bagel/dessert/piece of heaven we have ever eaten. Sadly, I know that soon the weather will be too cold to eat out in the park, but for now I'm trying to enjoy every last bit of the early fall weather.

On another note, I've been wearing these leopard print flats that I bought last year everywhere. All rules of pattern mixing and navy with black have been broken, mostly because they are the comfiest pair of shoes that I own. I think I'm actually starting to understand why people call leopard print a neutral (yeah I know I'm behind the game).

Hope you all had a great weekend!

If you are a shoe addict like me then you know a girl really can never have to many pairs of shoes. Even with a tiny dorm closet on my horizon there are more than a few pairs of shoes on my wish list. My number one shoe for fall (and really any season) is a pointed flat. Whether you like loafers, ballet flats, patterned flats, or neutral colors a pointed shoe is for you. Pointed flats make every girl's legs look miles longer, which is something I greatly appreciate at only 5'4".

The flats above are some of my favorites for this fall and they are all $50 and under! I think every girl should own leopard print flats and the pair above is the perfect pair to add to your closet. I also love the camo printed flats. I just bought them from Target and can't wait to try out the camo print trend in an easy way! Other classic flats with details of gold studs, bows, interesting cuts, or cap-toes are great options as well.

What are your favorite fall shoes? Do you wear flats or heels more?

Fall 2013 Fashion: Pointed Flats Under $50

I have finally fully embraced the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale after going to my local Nordstrom yesterday and buying two great pairs of jeans (number 6 above and these Paige skinnies). Even though I've been trying to save my fall shopping until later I may be going back soon to buy some more.

While I have loved checking out the NSale picks from some of my favorite blogs (like these from Gal Meets Glam, Lemon Stripes, and Pink Peonies) many of their picks are way out of my budget. The Anniversary sale is the perfect time to stock up on some investment pieces, but on my budget investment pieces still can only cost under $150. So I've compiled my favorites from the sale that are under $75!

This knit moto jacket is absolutely perfect for fall and I love the idea of layering heavy shirts underneath or another jacket above for when the weather gets chillier. I just bought these skinny jeans (that only cost $40 during the sale) that are extremely comfortable and I can't wait to wear them. I'm thinking about picking up these ankle boots since I imagine they will be perfect for walking around the city once I'm at school!

Stock up before August 5th when the sale ends. Happy shopping!

{F21 top, Zara dress (worn as skirt), F21 jacket, Report flats, Nordstrom watch (rose gold)}

Since I'm not someone who can afford to buy a completely new wardrobe each season (I mean, who can, or would want to anyways?) I often rely on old favorites of mine. This polka dot dress from Zara has been worn to death since I bought it either two or three years ago, but until yesterday I'd never worn it as a skirt. Dresses can be hard to wear differently since there are only so many jackets/shoes you can pair them with, but a skirt can go with many tops. I wasn't sure how the combo would look, but I ended up loving it!

Also, happy Friday everyone! I'm very ready for the weekend even though, unfortunately, it will be filled with a lot of studying and working. Hope you all have a great weekend!

I am seriously in love with shoes, though, we have a complicated relationship. I'm pretty picky with my shoes and sometimes it takes me a while to find the right pair, but once I've found a pair we are together for life (at least the shoe's life).

This spring I've found many pairs of shoes I love! Heels used to be my favorite thing to shop for, but recently I've started to love shopping for flats. I wear flats much more than heels and I don't plan to change that anytime soon so it is much more practical to buy flats. There are also hundreds of options for all price ranges.

I've already bought two new pairs of flats this spring, one of which are the polka dot Gap flats above. The Gap flats have such a great pointed toe that make my short legs look miles long (always a plus!). I also bought these Topshop flats that go with everything. My favorite pair above is definitely the neutral Asos flats with the pop of pink on the toe. I love the idea of taking a basic pair of flats and adding a small amount of a bright color.

I'm always looking for new pairs of shoes so let me know if you have any favorites this spring!

{J.Crew necklace, zara top, f21 jeans, f21 flats, free people bag}

Every once in a while I just don't feel like putting on a skirt or dress. They are just a lot of effort to wear. You know what I mean? In these cases I throw on a pair of jeans with flats and one of my favorite tops.
I wore this combo to dinner with some friends for a birthday celebration last night. It ended up being the perfect amount of fun and casual for the night. Adding the mint necklace made it feel a little bit more like spring, despite the giant snow banks that you can see behind me.

Lazy Day

column two: scarf, wristlet, earrings, loafers

I find myself too often buying and wanting things that are extremely expensive. As a girl who is about to face a lot of expenses on a very small budget, this is just unrealistic.
So I've decided to start a new monthly post, 20 under $20. Granted, there are a few things on my list that cost exactly $20.
The teal loafers from Target are probably my favorite thing of this month. I've seen them at Target a few times and finally think I will buy them for spring! There are a few colors/patterns of the loafers on sale as well.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! I know mine has been relaxing and just what I needed.

Shoes: Aldo, Chelsea Crew vis Urban Outfitters, PROSA, Aldo

As Christmas day approaches I have been thinking about what I will be wearing to celebrate the holiday with my family. My family celebrates Christmas Eve with at my Grandpa's house with one side of the family and every is a little dressy. However, on Christmas day we spend time at my aunt's house where everyone is dressed in cozy clothes perfect for lounging, opening presents, and chowing down. I love this because I get to dress up one night and then stay cozy the next day, but I also have to plan two outfits ahead of time to pack.
A few weeks ago I finally bought a pair of maroon jeans after obsessing over them for months. They have been all over Stockholm Streetstyle and other blogs (above are a few of my favorites!) I've worn them so many times since then. I even got mine from F21 where they were only $15. Seriously though, everyone should get a pair of maroon jeans. I decided I'll be wearing these jeans on christmas but I haven't decided what to wear with them. Above are a few of my ideas of what to wear with your red jeans, whether you have a dressy or casual Christmas.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas planned filled with family, friends, good food, and a few surprises!

p.s. The Forever 21 jeans look darker in real life. They are more maroon then red.

The worst thing about the internet is online shopping. Let's be honest, when you are supposed to be doing homework (like I should be right now) you are actually shopping. It is addicting, even if you aren't buying anything.  I got through cyber monday relatively unscathed, but after discovering Miss Selfridge this weekend my wallet has already begun to feel a lot lighter.
Miss Selfridge has a great mix of trendy and classic pieces at a range of prices. The best feeling is finding something you really want and can completely afford. I found at least twenty things that I want to buy and above are my favorites. What do you think I should get?

Clockwise from top:

When I subscribed to J.Crew newsletters I never thought I would be getting emails every day about sales and special offers. Even worse (well sort of better), I never thought I would actually enjoy getting endless emails from J.Crew, but I do. I love their daily emails because I always know when there are great sales and free shipping (going on right now!).

 I also find out right away that there are new arrivals! After todays email I went and stalked all of J.Crew's winter collection, and yes I'm in love. Real true love. I want everything. Unfortunately on my limited budget and christmas coming soon I can't afford nearly everything I want. Above are some of my favorite pieces from the winter collection! Tell me which you think I should splurge on!
