Now that the weather is warming up in NYC I've been trying to take advantage of it by spending as much time outside as possible before I have to leave for home in a few weeks. With my sister visiting this weekend we explored my favorite parks and ate way too much. We went to Central Park, Madison Sq Park, and Hudson River Park to soak up the sun and of course see the beautiful views. My favorite is definitely the view of the Freedom Tower from the Hudson River Park.

Then of course there's the food. From ice cream to Shake Shack to Brunch we ate pretty much everything New York has to offer. I'm in serious need of a detox after all the delicious food, most notably the salmon eggs benedict from Lafayette. Brunch there has become one of my favorite things in the city. I only wish every weekend was as incredible as this weekend was (I can't completely forget about studying/work as much as I wan't to sometimes).

I have this problem where I wear pants for days of nice weather and then the day I'm finally put together enough to wear a skirt or a dress the temperatures drop to 45 degrees and the rain comes. That is what happened last week when I wore this look to class. I was so happy to be able to wear some of my favorite winter pieces in a springy way {aka bare legs} and then it backfired when I had goosebumps everywhere.

Of course I'm doing the same thing this Monday morning, because who is put together enough to wear a skirt for an 8am class on a Monday? I'm sure not. It's supposed to rain the rest of the week, so when you see my attempting to jump over puddles in a flowy skirt remind me to be a bit more practical with my outfit choices.

Have a happy Monday!

It's finally Friday! I couldn't be happier for it to be the weekend since I've got plenty of fun planned with my sister over the next couple days. Of course we have Saturday morning brunch planned at my favorite spot with an after packed full of things before she goes home Sunday morning.

On a completely unrelated note, this beautiful picture has been constantly reminding me of the tragedy that has befallen my favorite striped tee. My black and white striped boat neck tee (that was completely perfect in every way - can be seen here) got stained by pizza sauce and is beyond repair. I've tried everything but the stain just isn't coming out. Not having my go-to neutral striped option in my closet has already been hard, so of course I'm searching for the new perfect striped tee. Check out a few of them below!

A few things I've been loving this week...

The knot trend for spring seen on Who What Wear. No need to tie a shirt/jacket around your waist when the knot is already built into your skirt.

The College Prepster's post about making the most of Sundays has had me rethinking the way I spend the last few hours of my weekends.

While I'm not getting an apartment anytime soon I'm always searching for NYC rentals (West Village dreaming) and I love these easy ways to upgrade a more budget friendly apartment.

I'm a little bit obsessed with Sophia Webster's shoe collection for J.Crew, but Hallie from Corals + Cognacs definitely wins in the most excited category with her post about the collaboration.

Perfect trendy spring skirts for under $50 that are making me want to go on a serious shopping spree. Do these great deals still count if I buy five skirts?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Two springs I'm loving right now are cage sandals and nude bags. I've been looking for a new pair of sandals and I love the way these cage sandals have a little coverage. While I love a single strap sandal sometimes walking around the city a few more straps is comfier for my feet. I also have the problem of not having a single bigger bag for the spring/summer time and these nude bags are the perfect accessory to any spring outfit.

Happy shopping!

I've been loving the warm weather we've finally been having and have taken advantage of my painted toe nails by wearing sandals as much as I possibly can recently. 75 degrees definitely feels like the summer weather I"m ready for.

Eyelet is popular every spring, but I've been seeing it even more in stores this spring and when I found this blouse at Mango I knew it was coming home with me. It's been so easy to wear with jeans and skirts under blazers (my favorite always) and the light fabric and cut outs will make it perfect for ridiculously hot summer days.

On another note my sister is coming to visit me tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! We are at a record breaking length since I've seen her and I hope she knows that she may be tackled to the ground when she gets off the bus tomorrow.

Have a happy Hump Day and as per usual watch my favorite video to cheer you up!

This morning reality hit when my alarm started blaring what felt like less than an hour after I went to bed. My alarm was a pretty harsh reminder that the weekend was over, which was especially sad since this has been one of the best weekends I've had in New York in a while.

While I love my job at school a little time off on Sunday to celebrate Easter and explore the city was very needed. It was sad not being home for one of my favorite holidays, but my friends and I made up for it by going to brunch and exploring Central Park.

I wore this dress with my favorite blazer to church, but then decided to change into something a little more casual for brunch at Palma in the West Village. This restaurant was probably the cutest place I've been since moving to the city and I'm already counting down the days when I can go back for real brunch (for Easter they had the dinner menu all day). I will say the pasta was incredible as well though. After brunch we headed up to Central Park to soak in a little bit of sun and explore parts of the park we had never been to before. All in all it was the perfect Sunday and I'm not exactly ready to let it go.

Hope you all have a great start to the week!

Happy Saturday everyone! The end of my school week was pretty crazy and I couldn't be happier that it is finally Saturday. While I'm working through most of the afternoon I plan to have a lazy evening before starting Easter festivities at midnight.

On the note of Easter, this is my first year not being home with my family for one of my favorite holidays. I'm missing out on a Red Sox game, brunch, and of course our tradition of ice cream sundaes to finish off the Easter celebration. It has been hard knowing I will be missing all of this and the memories that are made every time my whole family gets together. However, I've been lucky enough to have made my own little family here at school and I'm happy to be with them at church and brunch. I'll also be attempting to convert everyone to the ice cream sundae tradition as well.

A few things I've been loving this week...

My sister is coming to visit me next weekend and I'm reminded why I miss  her oh so much when reading these reasons it's awesome to have your sister as your best friend

This easter egg DIY is perfect for us fashion lovers. My favorite is the Celine egg!

Everyone I know would love to look like their outfit came straight from a J.Crew Style Guide and these tips are the perfect way to get there.

These 11 poses that girls do had me laughing to myself. I'm definitely guilty of the 'skinny arm' about 90% of the time.

Shopbob's sale might be over, but I'm still crushing on this perfectly color blocked striped dress from Edith A. Miller.

On a more serious note than usual this week I was reminded of the horrific events last April at the Boston Marathon, which many of my friends and family were attending. This article about what it means to be a Bostonian now has really tugged at my heart. I couldn't be prouder to be from such a resilient and amazing city.

I hope you all have a great weekend and Easter if you are celebrating the holiday!

These last two weeks have been a serious test of my abilities with all the different things going on in my life. At the beginning of this semester of school I knew I was taking on a lot between a load of hard classes, a job as an NYU admissions ambassador, and a new internship. Most weeks it all goes together easily, but then there are weeks like the last two where everything happens all at once.

With two midterms and a paper due, an incredible project with my internship, as well as a busy week for admissions ambassadors as we prepared for NYU's main accepted student weekend I was getting less than five hours a sleep a night (I usually need 7-8 hours) and my stress level was hitting a maximum. I started to question whether doing everything was worth my weekends being filled with work instead of having time to explore the city on a beautiful spring day.

Luckily, as of yesterday my schedule has calmed down a lot. I'm saying goodbye to not enough sleep every night and I'll be spending this weekend celebrating the Easter holiday with brunch and time with friends. Of course looking back on a few stressful weeks it always seems less stressful than it actually was, but what I realized was that the stress was worth it.

Even with my long list of to-dos that kept getting longer while I was working for the admitted students days over the weekend I was still so incredibly excited to get the change to talk to prospective students and tell them why I love my school. Even when I was studying for class or working on projects for my internship at 1am with a class at 8am the next morning I still loved what I was doing. Yes I was tired and in serious need of sleep, but the excitement never left.

I'm definitely happy to have a few calmer weeks on the horizon that will allow me time to relax and see friends, but wouldn't give up anything I've been working on these past weeks. Each and every thing that I work on makes me happy and that's what makes them worth it.

What do you all think of being busy and happy? It is all worth it?

On Being Happy

My friends know that my favorite color combination is the all American red, white, and blue, but this spring I've been turning to softer versions of these colors. A pale baby blue and soft coral are the perfect color combination for spring. Of course I always have to add in a little bit of a black and white stripe to an outfit!

I've had the craziest week and today and tomorrow are going to be just as busy! Look for a fun outfit post and another post about what's been going on in my life later on in the week!

Have a happy Monday!

It's really truly spring in New York and the flowers are blooming! When I walked into the courtyard of my residence hall and saw these beautiful flowers I couldn't have been happier. I've been switching out my regular blue jeans for summery white jeans a lot recently, but of course my love of black will still always come through. Pairing an easy tee with a blazer and scarf was the perfect look for class on a sunny and beautiful day. I love the pop of color and pattern that the scarf adds to a simple outfit!

I've been trying incredibly hard recently not to spend money. While I won't say I'm on a complete no shopping regimen I've been not to go into stores or online shop as much. For someone who loves shopping this can be incredibly hard. Luckily, knowing that saving money know will let me have more money for studying abroad in the fall is a good motivator.

However, there are a few things on my must-have list and one is a pair of sunglasses. I'm not a sunglasses person, but they are a necessity living in the city since the sun can become blinding in the summer. I've been looking for a fun but classic pair of sunglasses and have come to love 'Clubmaster' style that Ray Ban has. The $150 price tag is a little a lot more than I want to spend though, so I've been on the hunt for more options.

What do you all think about sunglasses? Is it worth it to splurge and buy the Ray Bans?

The launch last month of Porter Magazine has recently made me think a lot of about the value of a monthly (or bimonthly magazine). For those of you that have bought Porter, or though about buying it, you know it costs $10 to pick it up at newsstands. I definitely felt some sticker shock when seeing the price of the magazine last month when the first issue came out, because seriously who pays $10 for a magazine?

What I didn't think about though was the true value that fashion magazines these days have. I know I subscribe to Style.com and Who What Wear online, but there is something different about waking up Saturday morning and spending time in bed just reading through a magazine. Long articles and truly beautiful printed photographs are missing on the internet and for me magazines still fill that void. So after going through all the rambling thoughts in my head I actually picked up Porter this month already knowing how impressed I would be with the magazine.

Outside of Porter my go-to fashion magazines have always been Elle and Harpers Bazaar (I've also started reading Lucky more since Eva Chen took over!). Each of these magazines has sections that I look forward to every month and that is why I keep coming back to them. I've listed a few of my favorites above! With what is happening in digital media and publishing today everyone is questioning whether print magazines will be around for much longer. People thought New a Porter was crazy for starting Porter Magazine in what is seen as a 'dying' market. I believe, though, that fashion magazines offer something that isn't and can't be found online.

What do you all think about fashion magazines? Do you have any favorite features that you wait for every month?

p.s Peachy Keen might not be all that active this week thanks to another round of mid-terms and a busy week of internship and admissions ambassador work. Wish me luck!

Will Fashion Magazines Last?

This week went way too fast, so I'm not sure if I'm ready to say happy Friday. The past few days it has actually started to feel like spring in the city and I couldn't be happier. Flowers are starting to bloom and Washington Sq is filled people again. I forgot how perfect it felt just to sit outside and be able to feel the sun. Sadly, this weekend I will be stuck indoors again finishing up an essay and studying for what will be an incredibly hard mid term. When all the craziness is over, though, I plan to go to an outdoor brunch, explore central part, and make the most the the warm weather before the semester ends.

Here are a few things I'm loving this week...

Love these 60 tips that can change a girl's life. There are both funny and serious options that are actually inspirational.

For someone who has never felt comfortable in front of a camera (and is often in front of the camera for outfit posts) these tips for posing for pictures are incredibly helpful.

I'm still on the hunt for a pair of summer espadrilles and at the moment these are at the top of my list. Who doesn't love calf hair and leather?

Easy and fun suggestions for how to style boyfriend jeans this spring.

These pictures from Grace's trip to Tulum are making me wish I had a tropical vacation coming up soon. Spring weather will just have to do!

And of course I love my fair share of April Fools jokes and these ones on Her Campus are definitely some of the best.

Hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

{Aeropostale blazer, Forever 21 blouse, Gap jeans, Forever 21 flats, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Timex watch}

Just incase you didn't know, I basically live in jeans. I love skirts and dresses when the weather is warm enough (not there yet sadly), but in this cold and in between weather my go-to is always a pair of jeans. Adding a blazer and a blouse to an easy pair of jeans is definitely wear my mind has been going lately.

I bought this white blazer a couple of months ago as a trial run and it has been a success. The blazer was incredibly cheap (only $9) and I've still wanted to wear it all the time. I wasn't completely sure that I would wear a white blazer all that often, but boy was I wrong. Lately I feel as if I've been wanting to switch between a white blazer and my pale blue blazer every other day. So while this quick $9 find has gotten me through the last month I'm on the search for a white blazer that will be a little nicer (ie not so cheap looking) at a reasonable price! You can check out some of my finds below!

I love spring and fall because I always see these seasons as transitional season, tt's not too cold or too hot. However, because spring and fall always seem to disappear overnight and are replaced with freezing or stifling temperatures I always want to make sure the clothing I buy can be worn during other seasons.

Right now I'm loving this Madewell shirt dress because it really can be worn right now and in a few months when summer hits. As always, the key to colder temperatures is layering the right way. I've paired the dress with a white blazer (perfect for brunch!), but you could also throw a cargo or denim jacket over it. Make sure to wear a belt do add some shape to the look. Then when summer hits this dress is perfect for days spent both lounging on the beach and exploring. Wearing a coordinating bikini underneath and carrying along a large tote is the best way to head out for vacation!

For other transitioning suggestions check out this post and this post!
