The last week or so it's felt like spring one second and the depths of winter the next. With April approaching everyone knows it's just a matter of time until the flowers are blooming and every seat in Washington Square Park is taken, but for now we're (somewhat) content finding the sunny spots while walking down the street.

This time of year is one of the hardest to dress for in my opinion. I've already unpacked my spring and summer clothing with the hopes of breaking out a few of my favorite pieces, but the weather is telling me to bundle up. Over the years though I've found the loop hole to dressing for spring when it's really still winter outside, Spring Sweaters.

Yes, I know we are all sick of sweaters, but when I pull out a thin sweater with stripes or in a light pastel I always feel a little bit more like I'm bundling up for a summer evening instead of going out into the cold. I've collected a few of my favorite spring sweaters below to share with you all. Sadly, the one I'm wearing above has since sold out from Banana Republic.

Also, I'm heading down to Washington DC this weekend and would love any suggestions of where I should go and what I should eat :)

Outside of visiting museums I don't usually do incredibly touristy things around NYC, but when a friend comes to visit it's the perfect excuse to do all the touristy things you feel too cool to do otherwise. This past weekend my friend Chloe (shown in the picture above!) and I wandered around NYC doing a few of my favorites things (brunch, Hudson River Park, etc), but the most incredible event of the weekend was our visit to the Top of The Rock.

I've always thought NYC is beautiful, but I've never seen anything as incredible as the entire city skyline. It's hard to tell from these pictures, but from where we were (51st st) you could see miles past the Statue of Liberty, even with cloudy skies. If it weren't for the 30 degree temperatures we could have spent hours on the rooftop, especially since I went up with the goal of locating NYU which was pretty impossible.

I wasn't really expecting to get anything other than some really beautiful pictures out of the experience, but I have to say being up there definitely reminded me of how big NYC is and how little I've really seen of it. It can be easy to get caught up in the bubble of Manhattan, or even of just downtown, but there is so much of this city I've yet to see and I've definitely been re-inspired to explore.

Whether you're a NYC native, transplant, or just a visitor I highly suggest a visit to the Top of the Rock. If you can, try going up early enough to see the city during the day, but late enough to watch it start to get dark. I was definitely sad we didn't see the city lit up at twilight when I went this past weekend.

On Top of NYC

Through blog comments, emails, and social media I get plenty of questions about my life and Peachy Keen. One of my goals for Spring Break this year was to finally get around to answering a few of those common questions and update my About page. My about section is finally updated with new pictures and a little explanation about my life :)

While I've answered most of the questions I usually get asked in the FAQs image above (which is also on my about page) I'd love to hear the rest of your questions. Plus, if you're ever in the NYC area feel free to shoot me an email (I'm at carolinestfrancis@gmail.com) about meeting up or for suggestions about where to get a good coffee, great restaurants, and where to shop!

Jeans are easily my favorite piece of clothing (with a good striped tee coming in as a close second). I know for some people shopping for new denim is the worst time of the year, but if you get in the right mindset and know you'll be trying on a lot of pants (and bring a shopping buddy along) it can be a lot of fun.

Every girl needs to have the classic denim styles in her closet, before anything else. Number one is a great dark super skinny, because that's the jean that you can take from business casual, to super casual, to a fancy night out. This is the pair of jeans you want to make you feel like a million bucks, but that doesn't mean they should actually cost you that much. my go-to skinny jean is only $70 at gap and I can't tell you the amount of compliments I've gotten while wearing them. Then of course come a great pair of white skinnies for the summer, denim cut-offs, and ripped black jeans.

After the classics, though, it's fun to start experimenting with different trends. While I love the boyfriend trend, this spring the easier to wear (and more flattering) girlfriend jean is taking over. Starting off with a light wash pair is the way to go, but I also love the white and black versions. The once the weather warms up a super casual pair of fringed shorts is great for weekend adventures.

It finally felt like spring this week in NYC and after walking home from class one day all I wanted to do was rip everything out of my room and start anew. Now part of that may have been my desire to procrastinate studying, but mostly the beautiful weather just put me in a spring cleaning mode. While I like to make new years resolutions, the middle of the winter is not exactly an inspirational time in the Northeast. However, when spring hits so does the inspiration and I start changing everything. If you're like me (or if you're the total opposite) and want to do a little spring cleaning in your life or your closet I have a few tips.

For Your Life
1. First, bring out those New Year Resolutions you made in January. Did you want to go to the gym more or start cooking everyday? Remind yourself of the changes you said you were going to make and recommit yourself!

2. Start walking everywhere! The weather is finally getting nice again, which means your excuses to take the subway, bus, or a cab are gone. Not only will you feel healthier, but also getting fresh air is the best way to wake yourself up in the morning.

3. Read every morning. Getting up and reading the news, even if you just quickly read The Skimm will put you ahead for the rest of the day. My daily ritual includes coffee, reading The Skimm, checking my Bloglovin' feed, and a quick look at AdWeek

4. Eat more fruits and veggies! It is the season of fresh fruit and vegetables, so eat more of them. The holidays are over (including Valentine's Day + Fat Tuesday), so it's time to get back on the healthy eating track.

For Your Closet
1. Take out everything and sort it into piles. This may seem like an overwhelming task, but cleaning out your closet by removing everything first really is the best way to do it.

2. Try defining what your style is in three words (this can be really hard) and then pick out the pieces in your closet that stick with this style. Your whole closet doesn't have to be pieces that fit this style, but understanding which pieces do will help get rid of the 'I have nothing to wear' feeling.

3. Put together three outfits for the days when you have no time to think about what you're wearing. My go-to is a striped tee, jeans, and a blazer so I make sure that I always have clean back ups of this outfit.

4. Write out a shopping list for the season. Again, know your style and buy around it. I like sticking to a color palette or feeling for a season. This spring I'm feeling black, white, blush, and denim (with maybe a little navy blue). It will be a lot easier getting dressed when all your pieces work together.

5. Organize. Organize. Organize. When putting your closet back together create an organization system. Whether you organize by type, color, times you wear, season, or any other unique system, stick to the system. I like to organize by color and type. I start with light sleeveless going all the way to dark jackets.

Good luck with all your spring cleaning goals! If you have any other tips for spring inspiration or getting back on track please share them with me :)

Spring weather finally came to New York this weekend, so it really is the perfect time to stock up on some warm weather staples. Thank Goodness For Fridays... After getting sick earlier this week while having to prep for an important presentation (which is luckily over now),  I couldn't be happier the weekend is here. Yes, I do have two midterms next week which means most of my weekend will  be spent studying, but I do have a few fun study breaks planned to make the hours of reading a little more bearable.

If you were to ask me what my favorite things are, two of the first things to come to mind would be blogging and brunch. So, it's only fitting that I finally combined the two and met up with Dana of Pink Champagne Problems for brunch. After over a month of playing email tag Dana and I finally had our brunch date this past weekend.

We started off taking these pictures in Washington Square Park and I have to tell you, bringing two bloggers together for outfit pictures is pretty hilarious. It may look like it was a beautiful day out, but it was really freaking cold and I most definitely fell for the sun and dressed like it was spring. Though not pictured here, there are more than a few pictures of each of us screaming as the wind whipped through the park. Plus, there was a pigeon who really wanted to be my friend and kept popping into the back of the pictures.

After we were thoroughly frozen Dana and I headed over to Palma for a picture perfect and mouth watering brunch. Neither of us could decide between sweet and savory, but Dana definitely made the right choice with their french toast.

All in all it was a pretty great Saturday morning and I absolutely love getting to connect with blogger buds in real life. If you haven't seen Dana's blog, Pink Champagne Problems, you must stop by and check it out.

**All the items I'm wearing all ridiculously old, but below there are similar options for super affordable prices

As per my goal to try out new places every week while in New York I decided to head down to Nolita (on the line of SoHo) to check out Maman. My roommate lived just down the street from the adorable (newish) bakery last summer and had been raving about it for months, so it was time I finally went.

As far as NYC bakeries go, this is probably one of the cutest. The french bakery has a whimsical homey vibe with bunny figurines and cook books scattered around. When my friend and I arrived Sunday morning the bakery was pretty empty (NYC likes to sleep in) and we easily found seats to enjoy our coffee and quiche. If you're looking for somewhere in SoHo to get a great pastry where you can also get some work done, Maman is your spot. With big tables and wifi you can get plenty of work done without being cooped up in a depressing library. The best part of Maman is, even with freezing temperatures and horrible snow outside it felt like spring had arrived and my friend and mine's moods were instantly lifted.

Of course I have to mention the cups. Aren't they adorable? If I lived around Maman I'd be there all the time just for the cups. They make your typical cup of morning coffee feel extra special. Plus, they source the coffee from Toby's Estate in Brooklyn, so your latte will be one of the best in the city.
