Fall is truly upon us here in NYC, but if you're from New England you know the weather changes every hour if not every minute. While somedays we have perfect crisp weather we can easily go back to heat and humidity (aka what the rest of this week will be like).
Yesterday I had a surprising debate with friends while at work. While it isn't abnormal for us to strike up a funny debate (the Dunkin Donuts in NY vs. Boston argument is the usual), it is surprising for it be about Abercrombie & Fitch...
Wow guys, Mondays are ruff. I honestly forgot how rough Mondays could be since not only was last weekend a long weekend, but I also started classes the Wednesday before Labor Day. So yeah, the idea of waking up early and being productive on a Monday morning is a little bit foreign to me at the moment.
Before I go into all things Fashion Week I want to take a pause in memory of all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. I can't live in NYC on this day, or really any day, without remembering what happened here 14 years ago. Since starting at NYU this city has really become my home and it has been truly amazing to watch it continue to grow and shine. The Freedom Tower is one of the first things I see every morning as I walk out my door and it reminds me not only of those who gave their lives, but also those who fought to ensure a horrible act would not defeat New York City. While I know we won't ever forget 9/11 (rightly so) I want to thank everyone who has made New York greater than the events of that day so that this city could be as amazing a home as it is today.
Now back to all things fashion... New York Fashion Week started yesterday!
Now that Labor Day weekend is over I feel it's completely acceptable to forget about all things summer and focus on fall. I love beach days and beating hot summer sun, but I'd be lying if I didn't tell you September and October are my favorite months of the year.
I'd also be lying if I didn't tell you that one of the reasons September is my favorite month of the year is because it's my birthday month :) It works out perfectly that my birthday month lines up with fall shopping because my wish list is pretty long every year. Right now the top things on my wish list are a great fall blazer, burgundy boots, a to-die for satchel, and a new phone case! I'm not looking to invest in anything too crazy this fall, so going back to basics with great ankle boots, fisherman sweaters, and flannel shirts is my plan for the colder months.
Shop my favorites shown above (as well as a few more) below!
With the beginning of September and the fact that today is my first day of classes it's really starting to hit me that summer is over. While the days are going to get shorter and my days are going to be extremely busy I'm actually looking forward to this fall. My classes look like they're going to be interesting and I'm very ready to pull on a sweater. That all being said, one part of summer I don't have to let go of is The Atelier's Summer in the City Collection.
